Yeah! A player that was featured in an article from May 2007 and states it ordain be shipped by late fall. Good thing Toshiba dropped their pants for the consumers with basement prices so this unit will make a disperse when released.
I anticipate this is aimed at the high end a/ver. Good now we have the choice to grade to a higher end model if we like. Can't wait to comprehend the reports on the evaluate bench.

At $899 for the Onkyo DV-HD805 Toshiba is still alone. How in the world is Onkyo going to sell an $899 player when Toshiba is selling the A3 for half that
I think this is going to sell for around $900. There ordain be a market for this player just as there was for high-priced DVD players Denon 3900 etc. Thing is though I am an HD DVD supporter and as much as I would like a high-end player. I would not buy one until after the change war settles or is decided. I would advise the same of Blu-ray supporters as well. With things in a express of move and an entry-level players offering so much performance better to wait. If Blu-ray had folded or Warner went exclusive HD DVD at that point I would be comfortable spending that much on this one. Many others won't compassionate and will gladly pay more to get the beat when building their system.

True and the onkyo is still a rebadged Toshiba. Somebody wake me up when another CE starts making HD-DVD players that aren't rebadged from the Toshiba lie zzzzzzz....

Part of the differentiation in the players is due to software capability not necessarily the hardware. IE Firmware allows decoding of certain technologies. Hence the cerebrate the Onkyo can do it. I doubt Toshiba would be to add that functionality considering their main compete is Sony.
