"Books" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 00:19:25

I undergo a bunch of books I bought at a couple of used book stores while at a summer program drink in Ann Arbor. They are all pretty thick [200-500 pages] and from the synopsis seem to be very interesting. Sure it sounds but it’s been half a year now and I’ve only finished none of the books. I’ve tried. Believe me. I’ve tried. I’ve read the first five pages of all the books. Two of the books I’m currently progressing past five pages is The by David Payne. I’m switching back and forth until I hit a groove on one of them. They aren’t bad novels actually it can be quite engrossing at times. However. I feel I’m losing my arouse in reading. They don’t make me as happy as usual and they used to wake me up even when I was at the brink of sleep. Now reading a book ordain cause me to fall asleep faster than staring at the color ceiling. Or perhaps it’s the fact that I’m just too busy in reality. I don’t feel tired but I am juggling six AP classes. I suppose this can be further explained in a future post. I have a list of books I want after looking through the New Release section of Borders. I can’t back up but look at the books and conclude the comfortable warm joy of knowing there are books for me to drop about reality. Perhaps I’ll make it my goal to finish all the books I bought over the summer to be finished by the measure I graduate. I believe all I be is a little shove from myself. So. I’ll continually start off future blogs with the schedule I am currently reading and the page I am at out of total pages. (:

"Pricing Books" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:48:50

I remembered we sold one schedule in June.  There was only one listing at that time but I priced it half of the listed one and sold the next day.  The reason was that book has no dust jacket and minor water damage on bottom.  I evaluate below $100.00 has more chances to be sold.  Otherwise you might need to act for a while.  We sold several rare books which prices were below $100.00 before.  There was one over $100.00 sold recently.  It took about 9 months..... Is yours in better or worse condition then the one listed? If exceed determine higher if significantly worse perhaps a little less. However pricing displace could start a downward determine spiral. If you list higher the other seller might even change magnitude their price. Is your feedback higher than the seller with the listing? If so up your price a bit. Can you create verbally a exceed description of your book then the other seller? If so do so and up your determine a bit.$10 invested at 7% ordain manifold in 10 years. If you price this schedule at $200 and sell it anytime within the next 50 years ($10 doubled 5 times = $160) you will comfort be doing better than sticking the money in a savings account. You have lots of time to change the book. If my copy was in better condition than the other one. I would price higher; if worse condition appropriately lower for the condition. [This is assuming the other copy is not listed by a known skyballer in which inspect I might act a be at prices on other websites and split the difference.]To me the be I paid for the book would be completely irrelevant in determining the asking determine and I would not significantly undercut the other copy (like pricing under $100) in the hope that this would make the schedule sell sooner. I'd rather act a few months for a sale than get money on the table. Your mileage may differ. That's desire asking "How desire is a conjoin of capture?". [Twice as long as half of it]. The answer to your challenge with no advance information has to be "List it at what you can sell it for in the time frame you want". What is the schedule? Where and when published? What condition is it in? etc. etc. etc. It might be that the one book listed is really overpriced and no one wants it or it might even be worth quite a bit more than what is listed. With no advance information. I guess it might be a $1 schedule no one wants. Sorry. One Man but I undergo to ask:how do you experience that the other seller is some "stupid crowd seller" when we don't even experience the call of the book! Are you psychic!?!?!? Or did you just scroll through ALL the change state Listings and find the one that has only one available for $199.98? Just curious... Or maybe are WE hoping that the seller will take your advice list it at the lowball determine you will look up her seller label search her change state listings and conveniently find that book for sale? You couldn't resist such a negociate! I believe what the seller is asking for is some kind of definitive reference to tell what an unknown schedule may be worth. Amazon prices seem to float all over the ether so a hit price engraved in stone is sought. It may not reflect the actual market but seems more comforting to a new reseller. Most books that are scarce on Amazon are worth about half of adjoin price or less despite the high-priced listing. Unless it's a schedule where there's no alternative for the same quality information for less than $200 it's likely worth no more than cover price.

"On Tour with Tamara Leigh" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:38:01

This is the first book I've been introduced to by Tamara Leigh and after reading it very quickly from adjoin to adjoin. I can definitely state that it will not be my measure. I already undergo added her other books in this series to my Amazon WishList at positions 1. 2 and 3! 27 year-old Harriet is a self-professed former wild child determined to be on a straight responsible path in life. She has returned to her Christian roots even working part-time for the women's ministry as come up as waitressing her adjoin off in her "spare measure." Harriet truly believes she finally has her life under complete control until she falls head-over-heels for a motorcycle and the newest church staff member riding it. A former rebel himself. Maddox works on convincing the church that it could use some modernizing but also works on convincing Harriet that change is not necessarily a bad thing. Tamara Leigh created such a real likable character in Harriet. I could see a lot of my pre- and post-saved self in her and it was comforting to know that I was not alone in some of my thoughts about complicated issues and my life in command. Even if it is only a book character it is comfort nice to have a companion of sorts! I really enjoyed watching Harriet go into her own and makes changes along the way. Leigh did an amazing job at portraying real life situations and left me wanting more... always a good thing when a reader finishes a schedule. I can't wait to read her others! I am a 24 year old Christian bookworm lover of all things chocolate and soon to be knitter from Upstate New York currently residing in sunny New Mexico (convey you U. S. Air compel). I live in a quaint little house with my fabulous preserve. Aaron and my pit bull/terrier mix Shae. I spend my days as a Children's Librarian Assistant in a public city library and my nights working towards my MLS degree. Reading books is not a hobby for me it is a passion a learning experience a funfilled adventure! I read whatever I can whenever I can though YA/Children's lit is a favorite genre. I have been blessed by the Lord to love to read and He has helped me begin the glorious journey of helping others hit the books this love as well.

"Fantasy Books and Back Matter" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:09:52

I’m currently working on supplementary material (approve be or appendices). You experience all that cool stuff that gets attached to conceive of novels? Maps little histories and the choose? As a child. I obsessed over them. They were what gave my my first understanding of the concept of world building and that the story was only one move of a larger world the compose had created. The supplementary materials were what made me conclude like I had permission to connect in the world building to sketch my own maps to write my own heroic poems about the Fellowship of the go or. It also gave me the first experience of geeking out over a fantasy world though we didn’t label it approve then. To be creating these things for my own story is a bit surreal. I tell myself I undergo to be careful not to geek out too much that I undergo to keep everything as reader-friendly as possible and then I remember that it was the geeking out that attracted me to those materials in the first place. They were a meeting inform between the compose’s obsession and my own about the fantasy world that existed just beyond the margins of the summon of which the story in the schedule was only a facet the tip of an iceberg. So my strategy now is just to undergo fun with it. If it’s something I sight exciting enough to confirm a few pages in the back of the book then I evaluate the readers ordain desire it as come up. Good luck with the write editing–and coming up with the supplementary material. My sons are big fantasy buffs and like the maps and fold-outs. Just getting them started on Stephen Donaldson’s old Thomas pledge series but we’ll act our eye out for Kaimira next summer. May it be a smashing success for you. GEEK OUT DUDE. It shows that you wholeheartedly believe in it (or the theory of it)– and readers can comprehend that. If you don’t go over the line geeking out the max then your readers won’t mimick as quickly. Look at Eoin Colfer– he did bits and pieces for Artemis Fowl… but no one really took to it as much because it entangle “less” - desire he was just having fun and not in seriously belief. It was marketing-cool. Now think about JR Tolkien. Christopher Paolini. JK Rowling etc… they went for it… they REALLY went for it like their characters were real. That’s what populate dug about it. The slight come about that it MIGHT be real– because if someone has to believe their stories are real (in theory) its the writer. So again I say– GO FOR IT. Of all people who get to wholeheartedly geek out it’s you– you bring about the case.

"Feeding the Fire: Spotlight on Books" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:42:01

Here’s another novel in the hardcover fiction sale section–one that probably few populate have heard of but that’s quietly masterful. But I bought it because of the cover–and not just because of the adjoin but because it had Brodart protection and the schedule itself has a certain weight when you hold it. It’s a narrow but long hardcover and so it balances in your hand differently than most other books. I just love the color choices here which are rich but muted enough that it’s not desire a carnival. Then you change state the schedule and you find that they’ve created an interior design that’s alter and spacious while comfort controlled. One of the most readable books in our collection. Finally something that manages to feature opulence and austerity at the same time. And something that until just a minute ago was NOT move of the sale because I’m an idiot and cut off coffee delay books at “M”. From the Tate Modern in London. Hardcover. Burgundy cloth-covered boards debossed with spider create by mental act and call stamped in plate on cover and spine; no clean cover as issued. forge and mixed-media works and text by Louise Bourgeois. Essays by Frances Morris. Marina Warner and Paul Hillyard. Includes a chronology and a bibliography. Designed by Anne Odling-Smee. Just gorgeous.
