"What to do with your HD DVDs? Use them as drink coasters." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-29 02:42:24

The BDA is at it again. Here are two commercials aimed at slamming HD DVD:One commercial is called "The Coaster":Another is called "The Junk confine": Vizio 50" Plasma (P50HDTV10A)Toshiba A35 HD DVD PlayerSony PS3 Blu-ray PlayerTiVoHD (w/750 GB hard drive)Harman Kardon AVR-247Polk CSi3 (center)Polk Monitor 50's (fronts)Polk R50's (backs)BIC Acoustech H-100 subwoofer Yet more adverts where blu-ray slag off the opposition because they cannot sell their own players simply on the merits of their technology. I think a lot of fence sitting consumers will take a fairly dim view of this sort of ad. It really is quite sad. The first thing I thought of when I watched those. Was the irony of the blurry profiles 1.0. 1.1. 2.0 and how many door stops and coasters are coming as a result of THREE Hardware changes !I evaluate once the first disk that comes out with a adjust IME on blurry. HD DVD and it's partners are going to be laughing at the BDA They are saying HD DVD is a doorstop or a coaster because they sell more. Well... HD DVD can call the blurry players and disks the same thing when someone buys a disk that just plays a disperse screen " This feature is NOT available. Please see your hardware manufacture or goto for more details" They could but I suspect they won't. I think HD DVD are playing a different game and stooping to the burn level like the BDA have is never a sensible way to outsell the competition. The first thing I thought of when I watched those. Was the irony of the blurry profiles 1.0. 1.1. 2.0 and how many door stops and coasters are coming as a result of THREE Hardware changes Are these actual Blu-ray adverts? Or fan made? Please tell me the latter because that is absolutley hilarious if they're from the BDA. They've been saying everything HD DVD does "smacks of desperate" but tactics like this are about as desperate as it gets. If they're fan made props though coz they are funny. They could but I suspect they won't. I think HD DVD are playing a different game and stooping to the gutter level like the BDA undergo is never a sensible way to outsell the competition. HD DVD are playing the price your hardware right and slowly but surely build a solid userbase up game. It's the one that will win in the end the way things are currently panning out especially as if 1st week since price drop sales for PS3 are correct. I think we can be kissing the PS3 as a serious game console competitor good bye in 2008 then what happens to Blu-ray if it doesn't have a solid stand alone foundation? If the PS3 dies currently most new Blu-ray owners go with it as HD DVD is pretty much the choice of rest alone buyers. It could turn very sour very quickly for BD at this rate and I have to say that would be even funnier to see than if only for the reaction of the Blu "but we've already won" aggroup. Those commercials just reassured that I'd never buy a BD player until they are dirt cheap. negociate Bin Blu Ray type shit. Just a matter of time before Toshiba releases an ad showing people at the fact that many of their BD players will already be obsolete soon. "Wait. I paid $500+ for a player that doesn't play everything on this $30 BD disk?" ... "No sir that requires another $500 because the BDA knows you're a tool."Actually. I don't even believe those are real ad's since normally the competition avoids mentioning the other player(s) involved by name let alone that negative. EDIT: After seeing the "junk" video. I know these aren't from the BDA. No way would Sony allow Beta to be mentioned like that. Panasonic TC-26LX600 HDTVOnkyo TX-SR604 7.1 HDMI Receiver Optimus Mach Three Front SpeakersSony SS-CN5000 Center SpeakerSony SS-B1000 Surround Speakers (7.1)Sony SA-W3000 180W SubwooferSony PS3 (60gig w/ Linux installed) XBox 360 PremiumSony PS2 (160gig HDD. Messiah Pro 2 Modchip)Phillips DVP642 Divx/PAL DVD PlayerSony DVP-NC60P 5-Disc DVD PlayerViP 722 DVR Dual-Tuner 500GB w/ 250 External HDD I give him props for the effort. It's all in good fun. And plus we all know comedy can be quite funny when it's based on fantasy Its viral marketing. These "commercials" ordain probably never make it onto television but I am fairly certain they were paid for by the BDA or Sony. This is not new corporations fund small shit like this all the time under an anonymous name to try and convince people that it was fan-made. This is also NOT the first time Sony has done something like this anybody remember the "I'll I want for Christmas is a PSP" blog? Complete Sony horsecrap that they tried to play off as being a real person. . The BDA has to sink to this aim. They can't compete on technical specs or pricing. Because A: The average consumer doesn't give a crap about Bitrate or Lossless audio. And B: well this is obvious. :PBetween this and the changing of the Wiki for Halo 3 by Sony Employee's and the fake blogs that they've done plus the rootkits... It all just really shows you what kind of low life values this affiliate has taken on in order to sell its products. So the BDA has no real choice but to sling mud because that's all they have.

"Moser Baer's Cheap Movie CD/DVDs" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-15 11:30:51

If you wish to check a movie on your computer or Home theatre what do you do?Option 1: Buy an original VCD/DVD from a branded showroom by paying several hundred rupees (Legal high quality circumscribe but expensive)Option 2: Buy a pirated VCD/DVD for say 50-100 Rupees or less (illegal quality may not be good but pretty cheap)Option 3: contract a VCD/DVD for Rs.15-30 approx (Usually good quality. check and go it (some people alter a write of it though)) Since cost is primary concern for most middle categorise people many of us will be tempted to go for option 2 or 3 which directly or indirectly promotes piracy when multiple illegal copies of a movie are made. Are you aware (if you've seen their ads on TV) that original VCDs and DVDs can be purchased at the cost of pirated ones? Moser Baer India (BSE:MOSR a leading digital media manufacturer) has taken an initiative in this regard wherein they sell Full movie VCDs Rs 28 onwards and DVDs Rs 34 onwards. Hindi and regional language film VCDs are priced at Rs 28. English movie VCDs are priced at Rs 49. DVDs priced at Rs 34 onwards (Regional Languages-Rs 34. English: Rs 69). The price is so aggressive that it is at par with option 2 and 3 listed above. For the price of a pirated one you get original one. change surface if you thought of taking a VCD on contract and making a write using your DVD writer it still makes more comprehend to buy original one. Where do I get them? All leading music stores departmental stores like Big Bazaar even some stationary shops sell these cheap VCDs and DVDs. To buy online or for exact communicate of outlets checkout Moserbaer domiciliate entertainment website. Yes. Moser Baer has its own manufacturing unit for digital media (CDRs and DVDRs etc) so the be of CD/DVD for them is negligible (keep CDRs retail at around Rs 6 onwards while DVDRs retail at Rs 15 onwards. Manufacturing be should be around 20% of that amount). The movies they change are usually old ones which do not have much bespeak as such so it makes profitable comprehend to sell them with very low margin. 1. Satisfaction of buying a legal write2. Good quality video with casings (Rs 28 VCDs come in pouch while rest go in jewel case/boxes) and act upon labels. CD inspect remove if you buy 10+ VCDs online3. No dent on take. Price at par with pirated or rented movies4. Not only Hindi and English movies but also video items (movies as well as several other videos ) in several regional languages (Kannada. Tamil. Telugu. Malayalam etc) are also available)5. Current furnish: remove shipping and Free CD inspect for purchase of 20+ Units 1. No refund. No exchange. No pledge. Few may be of bad quality or may not play properly if faulty. You be to take that risk.2. Latest movies may not be available desire this. Only those which are few years old are sold this way (if the movie is good and if you've not watched it yet it is comfort worth collecting it.) (say: Some exceptions may be there: for example. Apne and ek chalis ki last local. Hindi movies few months old but weren't a success at box office are already available with MB. Newer movies are priced few rupees higher.3. All movies ordain undergo Moser Baer watermark on them.4. DVD-R is capable of storing more than just 1 movie but only one movie is available per DVD.(No additional videos as well say the making of the movie) (They could have clubbed 2-3 movies and sold for few rupees extra (It would be really convenient to have Home Alone 1. 2 and 3 or Spiderman 1 2 and 3 etc in a single disc instead of half a dozen of them) My undergo: I bought three Moser Baer VCDs and 1 DVD recently from Big Bazaar (Ameerpet Hyderabad). VCDs were quite good but I am not happy with picture quality in the DVD I bought (This might be a selective inspect and may not be applicable to all DVD movies. The movie was very very old and probably no DVDs were in existence that time. Maybe the movie was stored in DVD directly from a VHS or CD) This is an attempt by Moser Baer to focus on sales volume and gain profit which is beneficial for both consumers who be genuine content at reasonable price and for companies who do not want to loose their merchandise to piracy industry. I remember Lahari Recordings in Karnataka were selling original audio cassettes for Rs 20 once upon a measure. These moves if change state popular among masses should help eradicate video piracy and deliver entertainment industry. A pirated DVD (containing 3-4 latest movies) gets sold for around Rs 40 (negotiable) at Burma Bazaar Chennai (and at similar places in other cities) hence there's still a competition for Moser Baer. I wish populate change their mind and shift towards MB.
