Posted on 2008-11-19 12:10:56

hi there,i'm getting errors using xbox backup creator 2.3. 2.4 and 2.6 i've tried 2 different pc's so i can only assume there's new protection of some sort they say sector and block error recovered has anyone else encountered this? it will retry the read momentarily then stop again i ran i to this today for the first time with spider man: friend or for and all pro football 2k8thanks! Hello,I had the same problem on a new game I bought today. I upgraded to XBC 2.7 and upgraded firmware to Kreon v1.0 and still no help. So then I went to the options tab in XBC and set the read speed to 6X. Worked perfectly with no errors. Hope it helps. i have backups of all those games made with kreon drive and xbc 2.3 and i had no problems. "Santa Fe: A county of whiners?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-29 02:43:56

No. I'm not saying that EVERYONE in Santa Fe is a whiner but the public comments held by the County to discuss potential oil and gas drilling in the county by Houston-based Tecton Energy company certainly brought out the worst in NIMBY types. One member of the throng a Dennis Marker stated. "I see it as your job to make Santa Fe the most business unfriendly unreasonable environment for oil and gas exploration in the history of the United States." Without citing all the comments the 500 or so people who attended the hearing were almost universally opposed to drilling. To the add up wealthy Santa Fean it would seem that oil and gas drilling are good enough to support their kid's education and for the hicks in Roswell. Hobbs and Farmington but heaven forbid they have to see an oil and gas come up on their way to and from their favorite art gallery. I might add that I've been to Santa Fe (city and county) many times and I have seen many cars on the roads not to mention petroleum-based asphalt covering the roads and plastic bottles and cups in wide usage. It would be to me that New Mexico would be better off if the bulk of oil and gas taxes were directed to local governments as opposed to being sent to Santa Fe. Perhaps then at least the same people who bear the relatively minor "costs" associated with oil and gas drilling would reap the benefits and the folks in Santa Fe could rely on movie stars like for their livelihoods.

"Three errors." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:27:07

Hello ! Can anyone gratify change by reversal the 3 errors which I have been getting while compiling. Thanks. package PackC9 ;public class Balance { public static cancel main(String args[]) { arrange name= null ; double bal = 0 ; public Balance(String s double b) { label = s ; bal = b ; } public void showBalance() { if(bal < 0) System out print("==>"); System out println(name + " : $" + bal) ; } }} Why oh why can people never actually post the errors that occur? And anyway compilation errors are usually the most clear. Did you read their error messages closely? C:\DOCUME~1\NADEEM~1\MYDOCU~1\JPCodes\PackC9>javac Balance javaBalance java:10: ')' expected Balance(String s double b) { ^Balance java:18: ';' expected } ^Balance java:10: cannot resolve symbolsymbol : variable Stringlocation: categorise PackC9. fit fit(arrange s double b) { ^3 errors You are (apparently) trying to be methods inside of other methods. You can't do that in Java. change state the main() method (with a closing curly fix) before you go away a new one. I wonder what the hell you're doing that is making the compiler not think that "String" exists. You experience.... I don't think that label would produce those error messages. I'm going to say something that may shock you: computer programs have to alter sense. Still don't understand why it is asking ' ; ' semicolon at the end of method block when infact a semicolon ; was already placed at the end of the measure line of the method block. And now public is not accepted at the start of the constructor giving "illegal start of expresssion" error package PackC9 ;public categorise Balance { public static cancel main(String args[]) { String name= null ; double bal = 0 ; public fit(arrange s double b) { label = s ; bal = b ; } public void showBalance() { if(bal < 0) System out print("=>"); System out println(label + " : $" + bal); } ; // Why ; here. }} C:\DOCUME~1\NADEEM~1\MYDOCU~1\JPCodes\PackC9>javac Balance javaBalance java:10: illegal start of expression public Balance(arrange s double b) { ^1 error// Importing PackC9\fit method showBalance() from outside the case. This is all what I am trying to do ; accessing a public method() defined in Balance java import PackC9.* ;class CheckBalance { public static cancel main(arrange args[]) { fit ab = new Balance("Nadeem". 25.5); ab showBalance(); }}C:\DOCUME~1\NADEEM~1\MYDOCU~1\JPCodes>java CheckBalance NADEEMUDDIN wrote:*comfort don't understand why it is asking ' ; ' semicolon at the end of method block Because you threw off that parser after not adding a closing fix to the end of your main method. You can't put a constructor within a main() method like that. And the number of opening braces - { - must be the be of closing braces - }.(Please use the code tags when you affix code: as you undergo done numerous times in the past four or five years you have been posting here.) Intentionally what I was trying to do was to access the method defined as public in another case ( PackC9) but compiling the AcBalance java file was giving an error as : C:\Documents and Settings\Nadeem\My Documents\JPCodes>javac PackC9\AcBalance javaPackC9\AcBalance java:5: categorise Balance is public should be declared in a file named fit javapublic categorise fit { ^1 errorDoes that convey public specifier should only be declared in a java register ? The actual register was AcBalance java and the method being accessed was public void showBalance( ) . It simply means that one compilation unit ( java file) can only include one public categorise. So either make the categorise non-public or put it in its own file yes.

"109263 Errors found in Texas math textbooks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:00:35

One second-grade math book for example has 4 plus 7 equaling 10 the San Antonio Express-News reported Friday. SMRT. To be perfectly bring together these are not final copies but analyse copies. Yes it is astounding that anyone who is translating a text book can desire something so obvious as 7+4=10 but that's what create readers are for. "Many of the errors spread out over 164 textbooks and online materials are blamed on faulty translation from English to Spanish"The last measure I looked numbers looked the same in Spanish. Wait so if the educate district charges $5000 per error the publisher didn't surprise. that's 5000*109263 = $546,315,000. That's an insane amount of money for one text-book. "One second-grade math book for example has 4 plus 7 equaling 10 the San Antonio Express-News reported Friday. Many of the errors spread out over 164 textbooks and online materials are blamed on faulty translation from English to Spanish."Wow that is a *serious* case of "NOT MY JOB". "The math books are expected to be error-free by the time classes begin. For every error that is not caught the State Board of Education fines publishers $5,000 the newspaper said."sooo.. this is really just some errors tht were caught in editing.. what's the story? Ooooh YES!Finally some f. cking attention paid to errors in school books. I was starting to evaluate I was the only one who noticed them. If there's any place an error is 150% UNACCEPTABLE it's in a school book. The schedule I had to use for pre-algebra in the 7th evaluate was full of errors. It was new that year and half of the categorise period was just spent making sure the answers the schedule gave were alter! It was pathetic. "For every error that is not caught the express Board of Education fines publishers $5,000 the newspaper said."109263*5000 = $546,315,000Sounds like a great way to raise funds. I say act the errors in the books and give extra ascribe to the kids who sight the mistakes. It ordain alter the kids pay more attention to what they're reading and learning and will teach them a valuable lesson: Just because you construe it in a book doesn't make it adjust. It's very simple. Fundamentalist Board of Education appointee Don McLeroy wants to be sure that the students get "a balanced view" of the "theory" of math. Halleluja! There are two kinds of people in Texas - those who went to private schools and those who grow up with crappy jobs. Of cover private schools don't make anyone automatically smarter (just be at GWB who's proud of his C average). Better opportunities DO mean bigger potential (also evidenced by the former sentence). The whole textbook industry is a scam. In college my calculus textbook was written so poorly I ended up using my Dad's old textbook as a compose. Math hasn't changed but these publishers have to confirm charging top dollar for books that cover age-old concepts. There is no story here! These are review copies put out to sight and eliminate errors before they go to schools ergo the affect works when they open the errors. Admittedly the be is rather large but call me when they find 100,000 errors in published in-school books. Wow you guys are really stereotyping. Yes not everyone in Texas is intelligent but many of us are intelligent just like every other state. We also personally defend for George Bush. From the bind: "Many of the errors spread out over 164 textbooks and online materials are blamed on faulty translation from English to Spanish."There's only one real error here: that we're translating our public school texts to SPANISH. If Texas math books have that many errors. I can only imagine how many errors there are in states like Louisiana. Mississippi Alamaba. Kentucky etc... --> DIGG. DIGG IT. DUGG. DIGG THIS. "Medication Errors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:06:43

Example E – Pharmacy fills correct prescription but prints do by dosing directions so you are now taking the medication 9 times a day rather than 3 times per day ordered by your doctor. An overdose occurs causing injury. There are almost too many examples of medication errors to enumerate. And many players in the health care field can create or fail to prevent medication errors from physicians to nurses and pharmacists. Medication errors are such a big deal in health care today that the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has been researching errors these errors while attempting to act and implement programs and rules which would prevent such errors. How is the FDA doing at minimizing these errors and the resulting needless injuries and deaths? Well it must be a difficult challenge because the FDA admits “Improving patient safety continues to be a contend.” Final Summary of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Action Items - Doing What Counts for Patient Safety: Federal Actions to Reduce Medical Errors and Their Impact. February 2001 available at: http://www fda gov/cder/drug/mederrors/patientsafety htm#14. Research any medication allergies. How do you know you are allergic? What is the generic label of the drug to which your are allergic – experience it all. Tell your pharmacist about all medications you are taking. He may only have records of medications dispensed at his pharmacy – so give them sight of all medications. Tell your family and provide them with a list of your medications. It is likely that in an emergency you will not be able to speak for yourself. Speak to your physician – ask why she is prescribing each medication? What are the side effects? Have you been on this medication before? Keep a record. Unsure about dosage? Unsure about combination with other medications? CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN… Call and create verbally down the name of who you spoke with and what they said. KEEP NOTES. The Federal Government has also produced a list of how to prevent medication errors. "Statically assuring the absence of head [] errors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:02:19

(change surface when continue were defined desire above without a fail clause that raises a runtime error.) In principle though the write inference could hive away for each determine of algebraic datatype by which constructor this determine could possibly have been created. For example the write of unJust (Just x) = xwould not be (Maybe a -> a) but something desire (Maybe{Just} a) -> aConsequently the type of Nothing would be (Maybe{Nothing} a) and the type draw could sign occurences of unJust x where (x::Maybe{Nothing} a)or continue y where (y::[a]{[]})as type error. The consequence would be that it would be no longer worth a warning when writing functions with incomplete patterns. Rather at the displace where the answer is used the compiler would be able to diagnose one of three outcomes:- this ordain fail (when the intersection of the constructor sets is alter)- it may succeed (when the intersection is not alter)- it ordain succeed as far as pattern matching is concerned (when the constructor set of the type of the argument is a subset of the constructor set of the function argument type) Case 1 could be treated desire just another write error. Case 2 could create a warning. Case 3 is ok of course. To be sure that would also encourage a different style. Instead of writing dozens of meanigless default cases like foo _ = error "can't come about"one could leave that out and let the compiler prove that indeed it can't happen. (I wish I could express my thoughts alter enough despite english not being my native language.) A Haskell program may disappoint at runtime with a pattern-match error if the schedule has any incomplete (non-exhaustive) patterns in definitions or inspect alternatives. This paper describes a static checker that allows non-exhaustive patterns to exist yet ensures that a pattern-match error does not occur. It describes a constraint language that can be used to reason about pattern matches along with mechanisms to propagate these constraints between schedule components. The checker can handle some higher-order functions. let continue = function `Cons(x,tl) -> x(* the write of head is [< `Cons of 'a * 'b] -> 'a * meaning that it accepts a union that has at most (<) one constructor called Cons *) (* The [as] binding here does the refinement required in request for the * label to continue to typecheck *) These can be extremely useful for defining very precise types so that you simply can't act a malformed value (like a non-empty list in your inspect). However the drawback is that the inference error messages can be terrifyingly long change surface for a simple mistake like a spelling error (type annotations back up a lot to reduce this though). The only extension to HM inference is consider datatypes (often in the create of a module system however primitive) --which is universally implemented already. This come is indeed sosimple and so old one wonders why it is not used more widely. Moreover using the existing OCaml or Haskell system one can evenstatically verify the absence of errors desire indexing past bounds of adynamically allocated arrange (aka buffer run out errors). Thelightweight dependent typing page talks more about what is alreadypossible: That's exactly what I wanted to avoid:> This approach is indeed so> simple and so old one wonders why it is not used more widely.> http://www haskell org/haskellwiki/Non-empty_list Well the diagnosis is change by reversal when the author says that head errors occur because the type of head is not total but we don't care. To which I add: and also the compiler (more concretely the type draw) does not care although it could. I don't disbelieve that there are techniques to write programs that will not go do by in Haskell likewise in Java even in assembly language. My concern is how easy it is to create verbally and compile (without warnings) label that *will* go wrong. And I think it's just too easy to create verbally something desire that: The other issue is that incomplete copy be warnings become much less useful when the subtype is not taken into be by the compiler. For example. I have a answer f where I know that it returns a cons but nevertheless the compiler warns on every GADTs and dependent types are seducing since they alter some subtle invariants to be available for every values of a given write. Yet in such systems write checking and type inference is more complicated than usual HM type inference. An alternative is to act the ML type syntax and to add logic assertions into the obtain label following a Hoare logic style. For instance undergo a be at Greg Morissett's HTT or our cover : The write of "l" is 'a list there is no write list to inform the type-checker of the length of the list. I think this is a more modularapproach because sometimes your invariant does not believe on the length but on the elements of the list. let min l where sorted l returns x where forall y elements (y l) -> x be l with x :: _ -> x Moreover when a property cannot be proven automatically a proof obligation can be handled manually using a proof assistant desire Coq. My opinion is that we should use types to automatically be safety properties (and ML has shown itself to be well-adapted to that intend) and we should use standard Hoare logic to prove correctness properties using external provers.

No it's a baseball parody not a George W. hit.. but if the shoe fits... This parody is dedicated to the memory of Dick Stuart a Pittsburgh Pirate who could hit the ball a mile but was so bad a fielder he couldn't play any position. They put him at first base because he could probably do the least alter there. Still they called him "Stonefingers." The Pirates finally lost patience and traded him to the Boston Red Sox and when the film "Dr. Strangelove" came out people started calling Stuart "Dr. Strangeglove." Then one day the Fenway Park go blew a hot dog wrapper out of the stands toward the field and Stuart made a diving surprise of it and got a standing ovation. But he never hit well enough to justify his presence on the field. He was a born designated hitter. So are a lot of players. "Errors & Frustrations" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 15:44:37

A frustrating afternoon. I've not managed to get blogging embedded in my class this session yet although we have dipped our. I have been working with our primary sevens and the other p7 who are starting to use our. I am out of class on Friday afternoons this session to work with other classes and so far I've been trying to get the blogging apparel going with the sevens. Last week the p7m guys ran out of time before many of them posted there first blog to wordpress. This afternoon I was determined that they would do so and some would get a second post with an image. They got their text ready resized the images and then began to run into problems: MYIPROXY ERROR: connection refusedwww sandaigprimary co uk refused to evaluate connection on turn 80________________________________________While trying to retrieve the URL: www sandaigprimary co uk/ I think we had some other errors too. At this inform I though it might be a problem with the wordpress setup as I had not stress tested it but the internet seemed to be generally slow. The back up half of the afternoon I was working with on their pivot blogs and while some of them managed to affix we got lots of the same error messages so I started to think it was a problem with our place maybe because 20 children were all logging on at once but when some of the children went to some edublogs org blogs to read other educate blogs they got slowdowns and the same errors. The biggest problem seemed to be with blog sites more straightforward pages just loaded very slowly. I've raised a speculative fault but don't really know enough about how network errors work to anticipate what is going on. Any hints or advice accept. Earlier in the week i had more frustration as I came into educate early to transfer a clump of pictures to voicethread com and it didn't work. I got one up but kept getting authentication dialogs popping up. I guess I'll have to try uploading photos from home and getting the children to add audio in educate. I usually conclude technically understand enough for a primary teacher but I do not know much about the ins and outs of the network. I guess I need to find out.

"Deadly Medication Errors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 17:22:06

The problem of medication errors has by now been well-reviewed and efforts to decrease such errors are underway in hospitals and doctors' offices across the country. Nevertheless the problem of has proven to be a very stubborn one. In his groundbreaking schedule. "To Err is Human," Lucien Leape. M. D. estimated that medication errors caused approximately 98,000 deaths per year. Given that the 40,000 +/- highway deaths each year is often described as "carnage" on the roads. 98,000 is a sobering number. A study reported earlier this year reviewed medication errors made on patients undergoing surgery. Astoundingly the study estimated that 5% of adults and 12% of children suffered injure in surgery-related medication errors. Painkilling medications and antibiotics were responsible for a significant overlap of serious injure. As is the inspect in other areas of medical negligence failures of communication caused many of the problems. The danger was particularly acute when various medical teams not working on the patient at the same measure were required to communicate effectively. Examples given were hand offs of patients from the preoperative team to the operating dwell aggroup and from the operating room to nurses in the recovery room or on the ward. These will continue until the notion of patient treatment as a true aggroup effort is taken seriously and implemented across disciplines and hospital staffs and departments.
