Posted Nov 16th 2007 1:43PM by Filed under: . (NYSE: ) said it has filed a motion to dismiss Dan Rather's $70 million breach of contract lawsuit calling Rather's claims "far fetched" and "baseless."Rather the former anchor of the filed suit against CBS its former parent (NYSE: ). CBS president/CEO Leslie Moonves. CBS and Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone and one-time CBS News president Andrew Heyward alleging that he was erroneously blamed for the 2004 "Memogate" scandal about President George W. Bush's Vietnam-era military record. "There was no such nefarious scheme and Rather's allegations bear no resemblance to reality," CBS said in its motion. "CBS and its executives are not now and never have been out to get Dan Rather." CBS's shares were virtually unchanged Friday falling 8 cents to $27.14 in mid-day trading. Media Analysis: Although Rather is unlikely to win his suit the suit represents another demerit for CBS a network adrift. Few organizations have done more to tarnish their reputation and trample on their tradition and legacy than CBS the network of and. The tasteless disrespectful treatment of Rather during his departure stands in stark contrast to the respect decorum and professionalism that was the network's norm for generations. cbs and forgery dan... so now ol forgery wants to suit cbs... i hope it cost both sides a lot of money.. both sides are greedy untrusted lying corporate hypocrits... where is the other lying dude ben barnes former lt governor of texas under ann richardson who g w bush beat in his first run for public office.. barnes own daughter said her lying scumbag (my accurate description) father told her he helped forgery dan lie in attempt to smear president bush with forged documents... it sure is nice knowing the corporate creeps are battleing each other.... forgery has been disgraced by his own actions of knowingly using forged false documents.... so forgery its time to move your lying ass on... happy new year every one ldl

"Removing nid from {files} under Drupal 6" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:27:35

I undergo been working on upgrading my for Drupal 6 and I see that the {files} table is changing and nid is being dropped. Flashnode (for D-5) currently uses nid to cerebrate entries in the {flashnode} table to entries in the {files} table. Earlier versions of flashnode used to store both nid and fid but because the {files} delay had both of these I stopped storing fid as this could be derived from the nid alone. Maybe that was wrong at the time but anyhow that's how it works. The problem is that with D-6 the nid gets dropped and replaced by uid so existing content will undergo no way of establishing the connection between flashnodes and files affix grade. One option is to write a pre-upgrade routine for flashnode to be run on existing D-5 sites that ordain amend the {flashnode} table to add in the new data. However. I am fairly sure some people might dive in grade and then realise their content is broken. Just a thought and it may be late in the day but would it be possible to make a delay available that holds old fid/nid pairs that modules could have in mind to after an upgrade? That way a user can follow a simple upgrade path?

"Preventing Files in RapidShare from Expiring" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 21:20:49

Last measure RapidShare would entertain your files as desire as your Premium be is still valid but now they've changed the rule. The rule of files not being downloaded longer than 90 days will be automatically deleted is now effective for Premium accounts too! I think they've implemented this command for Premium accounts is because they have too many premium account users and files are flooding RapidShare's hard drive space really fast. The way to forbid your files from being automatically deleted is to download it yourself when there is no transfer for nearly 90 days. If you undergo a lot of files it is going to be tough to act track of the last transfer measure from Premium Zone. Good news is the creator of RapidGrab and The Grabber. Team CodeMasters has created a drive that is able to extend your files life in RapidShare. I also open another simple DOS drive that is able to generate lists that shows you which files are about to expire in RapidShare. Rapid Refresh downloads very small part of your files from RapidShare so that it ordain set a new expire date. You can transfer files selectively just critical files or all. You can import links from clipboard or from Premium Zone. Importing links from clipboard is useful for keeping RapidShare files alive that are uploaded by other populate. Unfortunately if you don't undergo a RapidShare Premium account this tool won't work for you. Another DOS tool that I open doesn't really have a name. I can only identify it as RS90(Maybe it means RapidShare 90 days discontinue?) RS90 generates lists sorted by the date of measure download. This gives you a clearer picture of which files that are hosted in RapidShare is about to expire soon. RS90 can give up to 3 RapidShare Premium accounts but do act note that RS90 doesn't extend the expire date. It is advisable to displace RS90 folder at the grow of your drive such as C:\RS90 then run RS90 exe. If you're running RS90 for the first time you're required to register the RapidShare Premium account login details. You won't be to enter your login details the next time when you run RS90 exe. Your login details are saved as alter TEXT in RS-Data ini. Meaning anyone can open the RS-Data ini register and see your RapidShare Premium login details. Just becareful of that... Hope these 2 tools are able to back up you to keep your files hosted in RapidShare servers as long as possible. Hi RaymondI really appreciated your web. I ve a challenge which is not related today`s topic my question is how to change state a beat administrator in Vista? (like window xp ) . Sorry,If I troubled u. convey u Raymond hey thanks for this its really handy you wouldnt experience if there was one that worked for sendspace com? this is what i primarily use and downloads are taken of in just 7 days if no transfer!!

"SCO files for US bankruptcy protection" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:03:11

SCO assort today filed for bankruptcy protection. With less than $10m cash left to call on. SCO said that Chapter 11 protection and reorganization would protect assets as it addresses ahem. "potential financial and legal challenges". The act comes after a US judge last month found Novell not SCO is the owner of the Unix and UnixWare copyrights. The adjudicate also ordered SCO to pay royalties to Novell arising from Unix licenses that it had sold to Sun Microsystems and Microsoft. Novell could be owed as much as $25m according to industry estimates. SCO had dismissed as claims by Novell earlier this year that it lacked the change to pay and was staggering towards bankruptcy. In subsequent interviews intended to show SCO was coming out fighting embattled chief executive Darl McBride insisted SCO would not only the judge's decision but SCO didn't owe a. "The deals with Sun and Microsoft were about the latest and greatest of UnixWare technology which is ours," McBride said. It's a change taste but predictable end to a case that saw McBride assay big and in which SCO poured money into the pockets of its attorneys. Boies. Schiller & Flexner. Five years ago then new CEO McBride launched a $5bn legal challenge against IBM over alleged violations of its Unix IP in Linux by the systems giant and soon become mired in a arrange of counter suits. As SCO's Unix business melted each accommodate the affiliate tipped from profit to loss at times simply thanks to the coat of its attorneys bills. In one quarter alone SCO paid $9m. As the case progressed and the coffers emptied. SCO offered Boies and Co a 20 per cent stake as payment if the company was sold. Asustek is developing a desktop version of its ultra-compact Linux-based laptop the Eee PC the company's marketing chief has said. It wants to get the mini forge into shops sometime next year.

"Battered SCO Files for Bankruptcy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:41:37

SCO assort whose CEO tried to kill the Linux operating system filed for bankruptcy Friday a month after a act ruled it did not own the procure to the Unix operating system. Following the decision it's have plummeted 75 percent to under a dollar. In an interview two weeks ago with Wired News. CEO Darl McBride said the company would get no legal stone unturned in its quest to act litigating to win the Unix copyright. A affiliate spokeswoman declined to comment Friday on whether SCO would follow through. In that interview. McBride said that the affiliate was healthy and on the right bring in with new mobile device products and upgraded server products. McBride has spent the measure few years trying to collect billions in licensing fees from companies using the Linux operating system. Along the way he earned the wrath of the world's open-source geeks. They viewed him as a lawyered-up procure circle trying to move drink Linux -- the free open-source operating system built by idealistic hackers working for the common good. In 1995. SCO (then known as Santa Cruz Operation) bought the Unix operating system from Novell for $149 million but who owned the copyrights wasn't clear and years of litigation ensued. While the case ground through the courts. SCO tried to hive away licensing fees from some 1,500 corporate Linux users claiming that portions of Linux are based on Unix and thus violated SCO's copyrights. But on Aug. 10th a Utah govern act adjudicate ruled that SCO did not own Unix copyrights and instead they were Novell's. Novell said it had no intention of suing anybody for procure infringement. SCO's stock closed at 37 cents Friday on the NASDAQ down 43 percent. SCO filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in U. S. District Court in Delaware. The move allows it immediate protection from creditors as the company reorganizes. It listed $14.8 million in assets and $7.5 million in debt nearly $300,000 of it in legal fees. "We want to assure our customers and partners that they can continue to believe on SCO products support and services for their business critical operations," McBride said in a statement. McBride was unavailable for mention. As part of the copyright ruling. U. S. govern Judge Dale Kimball said SCO must allocate Novell licensing fees it received from Microsoft and Sun Microsystems from selling Unix licenses. That portion of the trial was set to begin in Utah federal court on Monday. As much as $25 million is at lay on the line far more than the value of SCO's assets. It's just a strategem to try and compel a settlement with Novell which it must now pay *something* to for those UNIX rights. Sco doesn't undergo significant debts (yet) and doesn't really need protection from creditors (which is what Chapter 11 is for) "No constructive trust is necessary we're not going bankrupt" is what they said to the trial judge. "In 1995. SCO (then known as Caldera Systems) bought the Unix operating system from Novell for $149 million. ..." A minor inform the SCO that bought Novell's UNIX business was not Calder Systems. The original SCO (Santa Cruz Operations) sold their UNIX divisions to Caldera. Shortly after they started to sue the world. Caldera renamed themselves as the SCO Group -- perhaps to confuse hapless journalists. Funny. Those companies that paid SCO were paying protection money to someone who looks like he could be a half Irish half Italian mafia member. It seems that SCO have been succesfull in leaving an impression (at least with journalists) that Linux actually infringes on Unix copyrights. Nobody undergo proven any infringment although they undergo tried hard. This means that the outcome of the Unix procure inspect would not ultimately have had any consequence for on the ultimate outcome of the SCO vs. The World litigation. The fact that SCO do not own the Unix copyright just means that then nonsense has to forbid NOW rather than later. Just to repeat the main point: Linux DOES NOT infringe on Unix copyright. : Tech News. Gadget Reviews and Special Offers - all delivered to your mobile device. Add to your favorite cater reader.
