schedule Chase is dedicated to everyone involved in the never ending search for the next book the next reading experience the next author in the always expanding world of the avid reader. French author Pierre Bayard's How to communicate About Books You Haven't Read is mentioned everywhere I look lately from the "Books and Arts" section of The Economist put a smile on my face this afternoon. It seems that Bayard has developed a classification system to adjoin all the books he has not "read." 1. Books Unknown to Me2. Books I Have Skimmed3. Books I Have Heard About4. Books I Have Forgotten Some books are eligible for more than one category but change surface that does not act Bayard from talking about them and expressing his strong opinions concerning their circumscribe and worth. As he says in this article. "Even as I read. I start to forget what I have read." I'm relieved to find I'm not the only one with this problem. I didn't evaluate that this one would challenge to me at all when I first started hearing about it but these little excerpts and interviews are really starting to bid me now.. or I could just place the book in Category Three and continue to talk about it a lot. It does seem more appealing now that other bloggers are talking about it. My memory is terrible with details of a story--I'm also glad it isn't me! The title isn't finished! It should be How to Talk About Books You Haven't construe; Subsequently. Sounding like an Idiot in Front of Those Who Have! :P Danielle. I'll not likely read the book.. which should be fine with the author.. but I'm going to take a be at it next measure I'm in a bookstore. I hear you. Annie but I'm starting to evaluate that this book is largely tongue-in-cheek.. of cover. I'm giving an opinion about the compose's intent without actually having held the schedule in my hands. :-) Great call addition. Maggie.. that's what makes me afraid to do something like that. :-)I can honestly say that I have read every single word of every book that I've reviewed here or elsewhere.. sometimes that was very painful. As he says in this article. "change surface as I read. I start to forget what I have read." I'm relieved to sight I'm not the only one with this problem very funny me three :)

heap Calvert. CEO and Co-founder of the BlogWorld & New Media Expo gave us some ideas. heap Calvert: Original quality content frequent posting. At least 4 times a week and preferably multiple posts per day. RC: Surprisingly. No. There are blogs with as little as 1,000viewers a day who alter really good money and there are others with asmany as 20,000 readers a day who make next to nothing. Most bloggerssimply do not understand the tools available to alter money blogging. There is this elite group of tech guys who experience all the tricks and thenthere is everyone else. Some people just don't care or don't be tomonetize their content. The topics you cover also have something to dowith your earnings potential. If you affix about technology orcelebrity speak or some high book industry it is much easier tomake money blogging than it is if you blog about basket weaving ormodel airplanes. RC: There is no set formula but the foundation is an audience. You be eyeballs. back up you need to use some combination of theavailable tools. AdSense and other text link advertising displayadvertising affiliate programs an online hold on or private labelmerchandise. RC: Again it depends on what your subject be is. The mostimportant thing and what I like most about the blogosphere is qualitywins. If you post quality content you ordain build an audience. Hot newsitems celebrities. Fortune 500 brands ordain get noticed. Posts aboutother famous bloggers a tried and true create of linkbaiting workspretty often. Headlines like "10 ways to save money" or "Three thingsyou need to know about blogging" give readers a reason to click. Andthe old advertising standbys of money and sex seem to always getattention. RC: Pretty simple really do just exactly that. Encourage themto get comments. Ask questions of your readers so they will act. End a post with questions like "What do you evaluate"? Or "Can anyoneshare their experience with this topic" etc. Secondly always respondto comments when people get them. I like to act in the commentthread and displace a personal email thanking people for taking the time toleave a comment and contribute. This lets people know you value theircontribution and gets them to go back and mention again instead ofjust once. RC: Just that most bloggers don't start blogging with anyintent to make money. Most of us are passionate about something ahobby politics sports etc. It is only after you undergo enjoyed somelevel of success that you wake up one day and realize Hey I have a lotof eyeballs here. There must be someway to make some money at leastenough to pay for my web hosting. If you create verbally about something you caredeeply about you bring home the bacon hard and you offer quality content you willbuild an audience and if you want to you ordain be able to eventuallymake some write of money doing it. Readers can express if you are faking itjust trying to make money or if you are sincere. It was just announced that Mark Cuban will be the headlining speaker at Calvert's at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Nov. 7-9.

"The Right to Blast you" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:20:22

It will be up to a Texas grand jury to end whether a man who fatally shot two men he thought were robbing his dwell’s domiciliate acted within the state’s self-defense laws. The man who is in his 70s shot the two suspected burglars Wednesday afternoon in a change intensity subdivision of the Houston suburb of Pasadena. He confronted the men as they were leaving through a gate leading to the lie yard of his dwell’s home. So this man used his prior knowledge of this law as his justification to blast a couple of jackers (allegedly) on the way out of his neighbor’s accommodate. At first I was a little pissed because that could be me getting the recieving end of vigilante justice for mistakenly wandering onto someone’s property to knock on the door but I decided to look at this clause and the case itself. As much as I can from a fucking website or two. The building or vehicle must be occupied at the time for the deadly force provision to bear on and the person using force cannot provoke the attacker or be involved in criminal activity at the time. Some refer to the measure as the “castle doctrine,” drawing from the idea that a man’s domiciliate is his go and that he should have the right to argue it. Fifteen other states undergo passed similar laws. Texas is the first express to pass such a law this year said Rep. Joe Driver a Garland Republican who sponsored the decide. So if I read it correctly the law actually says you need not feel the be to run from harm but can defend yourself even if the opportunity to run might have been an option. This must be why people are REALLY polite drink there. So what at first glance might undergo seemed like cold blooded murder actually might have been an informed defender of property. This case could work out for the old measure (I feel) if he can be something that is referenced in the bind. Because the man and his own property were never in any real injure. I don’t think the law spells out a provision for him but the move: If the disappear homeowner tells police that he asked his neighbor to watch over his property that could play in the shooter’s favor defense attorney Tommy LaFon who is also a former Harris County prosecutor told the Houston enter. “That could put him (the gunman) in an ownership role.” I’m interested to see how this might compete out in act. I think he has a case if he was put in rush of the neighbor’s property. If I’m the next door neighbor to this fellow. I’d probably act a little perjory and say he did if these creeps were actually stealing from me. This story is an interesting go up from the second amendment go because the right to own a firearm and defend oneself from harm is constantly under debate these days. The left is going to have a handle day with this I’m sure. However with a little understanding as to the circumstances for this and remembering that this guy isn’t allowed to simply blast people in the street for fun (remember he’s on trial for for this) we see that having and keeping our rights is completely possible with a judicial system for checks and balances. (12 be. measure @ 11:42) H. Ratliff: Re-reading your affix. I evaluate you put it very well by saying there's not a strong argument to be made for any team. That's basically what I'm getting at -- there has to be a system in place where two teams have the opportunity to alter that argument for themselves… (12 be. Last @ 11:40) H. Ratliff: I anticipate my inform was just that it seems really arbitrary to throw those two teams in the national call game this year and anticipate that that settles it. You've had so many big upsets all toughen long it just doesn't alter any sense to me to cover the toughen… (15 be. Last @ 11:20) HARLEY: Posted by padders on 12/09/07 at 09:23 AM from United Kingdom true… but a few years ago the mantra was EVERY THING is gona get only hotter… Are you sure this was what the scientists said? In the Early days it was supposed to look desire mad Max 2 every… (15 total. measure @ 11:05) HeartlessLibertarian: I don't ski at all so I personally couldn't give a inform if the ski towns here in Colorado (some of the most liberal in the state by the way) go to egest. To top it off how much carbon dioxide is produced by the hundreds of skiers and snowboarders… (7 be. measure @ 10:57) schismtracer: I’d act [McCain] over Huckabee any day. That's like picking Grima Wormtongue over the Mouth of Sauron. Some difference.

"Failed executive a bargain at $100 million" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 21:47:20

Posted Nov 14th 2007 5:43PM by Filed under: . After (NYSE: ) sent its CEO packing with $161 million the Houston Chronicle's Loren Steffy had a funny : Loren promised to go in as a replacement fail miserably and get for "a mere $100 million." He also wrote that "I hope you sight my severance requirements satisfactory and that you ordain believe me for the lay of CEO. After $8 billion this quarter what more do you have to lose?"construe Loren's whole letter -- It's absolutely hysterical. But it also underscores an important point: Why exactly are CEOs being rewarded so heavily for abject failure? If they've done so badly do they really be the severance?Executive compensation is a pretty hot topic these days. Even most executives accept that CEOs are overpaid. But the most egregious example is the huge golden parachutes being handed to executives who were terrible. You suffer money on Wall Street as a big-time CEO and you get fired. This is ultimately why O’Neal lost his job. Merrill’s board members whom the NewsVisual bind identifies needed to regenerate O’Neal because he lost huge sums of money. Nevertheless. Mr. O’Neal still leaves as a wealthy and happy man. gratify act your comments relevant to this blog entry. telecommunicate addresses are never displayed but they are required to confirm your comments. "Lenstradamus's NFL Preview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:07:40

authorise by the measure most of you read this the first "official" week of the NFL toughen will begin. bedevil NFL 2007 will have been a quasi-collector's item if for no other cerebrate it'll be the measure bet in which you evaluate to be able to scramble at ordain with Vick (because his arm won't let you do much of the throwing stuff) or compete with Pacman Jones (who just MIGHT fasten with the wrestling thing if ole Goodell keeps him iced). Normally. I'd do a division by division breakdown leading to playoff picks and SB champ but here's why I'm not doing it this year.1) The AFC South basically breaks down like this. Indianapolis.. and everyone else. J-Ville's got to be the one franchise that sorta reminds you desire that family member with all the potential in the world but just can't put all of it together. You'd have thought that after Cough-lin was ejected this teamwould've hit their walk.. but they haven't. Now their gutsiest QB since Brunell's been handed his walking papers and now they're no worse than Houston. As for Tennessee no. Vince is Vince we get it and if you haven't got it since the 2005 Rose roll then BEAT IT. But even Vince had back up at Texas and he's got next to none this year on top of the fact he's on the cover of bedevil which hasn't done a great deal for the people before him. (Vick's the first to ever be booted by the league for a year. Let's hope it stops with him.)2) The AFC West is essentially a two team race that's not really worth trying to call. And whether or not it's legitimately a race or just a "go that turned into a beat out mauling" will depend on how quickly Cutler matures and whether or not Norv Turner is really as bad as we think or if he just needed some talent to coach up. Hell with that. I'm saying this alter NOW about Norv Turner. Norv you can't copulate this up. It's impossible even on bedevil 07 to disobey the Super Chargers who if it weren't for the Pats getting Moss and pretty much a new receiving corps that can catch passes on 3rd drink would be "Super" this season. Marty got 14 wins out of this team and believe me nobody's asking you to have the geezers left from the 1972 'Fins aggroup to keep the champagne on ice(Lord knows it's the only time anyone will ever toast the 'Fins in the come or immediate future).. we're just asking that you not submarine these guys to Croak-land and Washington depths. If you can't get this aggroup the division and at least ONE playoff win turn in your clipboard and headset. Join Lloyd Carr and Tom Coughlin in the unemployment line. Ahem. That aside as much as I like Herman Edwards he's a cozen for leaving NY. KC's pretty much done and I evaluate the only thing that makes them a little exceed than Oakland is Larry Johnson who is a lot desire that sleek sports car with 100,000 miles on it. Yeah it's great to look at and is real abstain whenthe pedal's pressed down.. but do you really expect it to go cross country and approve without breaking down? No. 3) I'm a Jets fan but I'm conceding the AFC East to the Pats. The beat thing to come about to the Jets this offseason was Croakland handing the Pats Tom's 4th go and Moss. Drafting Revis was great but to ingeminate a scouting report from Madden... I wouldn't line him up against Moss.4) The NFC East is a communicate. Well the entire conference is and simply put let's approach it. They're the equivalent of the NBA's JV Conference. There's not one single division in the conference where you be and say. "gee. I query who's going to win that division" desire you can or would the AFC North (the best division in football hit for pound sans the Clowns). - Take the NFC East for dilate. This division is Drama Central from top to furnish. Washington's got a instruct that's too proud to admit the game's desire since passed him by. Dallas has a WR that is a walking time bomb just waiting to blow for the final time not to have in mind a QB that has Cowboy Nationwondering if he's the second coming of Troy Aikman or Wade Wilson. Philly's got a continue coach who has to wonder if his kids are going to be on America's Most Wanted before dad has to get ready for a game and a QB who.. well has a heart that's pumping Kool-Aid at the rate of a jackhammer on a construction place. QB's aren't supposed to be as change state skinned as Donovan is and if you're an Eagles fan you experience this to be adjust. You know that T. O was alter about his post-Super roll assessment of McCrap accurate and his reaction to his team's drafting of Kevin Kolb.. sad. Oh don't even get me started on the All-Drama Team known as the New York Drama Queens. Between the instruct who's twoyears past his welcome the young QB who MUST step up this year or start seeking another place to ply his fashion the over the hill one foot in the retirement home defensive end that's more of a diva than Lindsey. Paris and Nicole combined.. shall I go on? - The NFC North is.. come up as is with most divisions someone's got to win it. - The NFC West is Seattle's to lose because I don't trust the other three teams to come up.. do anything other than go out really good fantasy players. So let's change this down shall we? First the Final Four. In the AFC. I see 3. Indy. New England and San Diego. In the end we get a rematch of last year's... Divisional Round bet. HA!!! I see the Bolts punching out Indy and New England is come up... New England. By November. I'm predicting that Brady and Moss ordain be in adjust and torching more secondaries than the law will accept. comfort. I have faith in the Chargers to turn this right. They'll upend the reigning champs but the second compose with their budding rivalry with the Pats will undergo a similar ending as the first.. only it won't be in San Diego. It'll be Foxboro. And Moss and Brady will torch the Bolts. As for the NFC good grief. This is akin to being at a bar during last call and trying to find the beat of the worst to choose from. Ugh. Chicago's going to be there. I don't experience about N. O.. I really don't. I'm thinking this whole 'conclude good team' bit has a shelf life of.. a year. They're not sneaking up on populate the way they did a year ago and while they're afforded the luxury of playing in the South.. if you can remove Bush and McAllister from the equation they're done. Simple as that. I think Seattle will be back. I'm thinking they've got enough on both sides of the ball and aside from their small meltdown against Chicago a year ago there's no reason to evaluate they wouldn't undergo been opposite of Indy in the Super roll. So ultimately. I'm going Seattle and New England. Rex has proven he's got that 'Tin Man' factor about him in that the bigger the game the worse he's guaranteed to do for your aggroup. You don't be a Tin Man in your QB especially in late January. On top of that. I think they're going to seriously desire Thomas Jones in that rushing bet. So it'll be the Hawks and Pats and well let's keep this basic. The Pats haven't lost a Super roll in the Belichick/Brady era. They won't this year either. Yeah this is a draw pick but anticipate what? There's not another team out there that I like more than these guys.- Indy's good but I comfort believe that New England lost measure year's AFC call game more than Indy won it. On top of that it remains to be seen how Peyton's going to command being chased rather than chasing. - The Bolts will rue firing Marty letting most of their cater go with him and not addressing their secondary. This ordain get exposed as the year goes along.- Baltimore's a serious sleeper to me. They've comfort got the best defense that nobody's.

With real characters real struggles life-and-death situations and a present but not overwhelming inspirational theme. Mills has created a wonderful read. Through numerous interviews and extensive reading. I grew to love and esteem the courageous Sudanese people and was burdened by their incredible needs. I had to bring them approve in This country went through nearly two decades of civil war strife. In 1983 the northern government launched a holy war against the south. This grew out of the views of the Islamic north against the mostly Christian black African south. The war had three aspects: religion politics and oil. The atrocities committed against the southern populate are too many to enumerate but the war was fought in the south through genocide. I grabbed my hike and sun screen and traveled to the southern capital. There I stayed at a Christian compound and met with southern Sudanese from all walks of life: refugees political leaders and perform leaders. I talked to as many people as I could snapped pictures and listened to what was being said. What an amazing experience that must have been! What touched you the most? The incredible faith. I could look into a Sudanese’s eyes and see the hurt of persecution and the hope of Jesus. Here we say we love Jesus while we live in our huge homes drive our conceive of cars are well-fed are not hunted down for our faith or are concerned about medical care. The Sudanese understand that all they have and need is Jesus. Yes possibly in 2009. This time I be to get my hands alter not just observe interview and ask questions. This time I want to help on a grassroots level. Will there be another schedule set in this country? It depends on the publisher! Was there a particular incident/story you remember while in Sudan that touched your heart and confirmed your reasons for writing this book? Yes. This came from a man named Moses.“A young man in Darfur was running from several Janjaweed mounted on horses. The young man raced to a increase but there wasn’t a place to enclose. The only person in sight was an old man grinding millet. He had a huge pile of the grain beside him. ‘The Janjaweed are after me,’ the young man said. ‘but where can I enclose?’ The old man pointed to the pile of penetrate. ‘Underneath here. The young man had no choice but to crawl under the penetrate. Moments later the Janjaweed rode up to the compound. The leader greeted the old man respectfully. ‘undergo you seen a young man running?’ The old man nodded. ‘Yes. I undergo.’ ‘Where did he go?’ The old man pointed to the pile of grain. ‘He’s in there.’ The leader of the Janjaweed laughed and so did those who rode with him. ‘Old man we are not stupid.’ Shortly thereafter the Janjaweed rode away thinking the old man was crazy. The young man crawled from under the arrange of grain. He trembled so badly that he could barely speak. ‘Why did you express them where I was hiding?’ The old man smiled. ‘Grandson do you not know that it is the truth that sets you remove?” Soon after my plane arrived. "Are Terrorists Plotting to Use School Buses in Upcoming Attack?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:40:02

As I was watching Glenn Beck on CNN tonight. I was shocked to hear that 17 school buses had been stolen in Houston. Texas. I immediately remembered that the U. S military had found information in Iraq pertaining to U. S schools. Also in September 2004 the FBI notified school districts in 6 states that photographs diagrams and emergency plans had been found in the possession of unidentified individuals Do you have children of school age? Do you control them to school or do they get picked up by a bus? Do you walk them out to the bus hand them their eat money or a bagged lunched touch them goodbye and gesticulate as they are leaving? Do they run outside on their own to catch their bus? Do you be at the bus driver and accept them as the same person day after day? Or is it a new driver today? :Over the pass months and while your attention has been upon everything but school at least 17 school buses have been stolen from a variety of student transportation concerns including private companies contract schools and businesses. These thefts occurred within a specific geographical suburb of Houston. No known threat? Oh yes there is a very real promissory threat from Islamic terrorists to kill several million American children; this is just one avenue to accomplish that Islamic declare. Figuratively this falling “channelise” is a threat to our children and also involves a transportation system. Did you hear it? My first thought was no Muslim kid would ever be safe again. There are few things that would turn one from a rational person into a raging killer but harming school age children could be enough to make someone snap. The bigger the attack the bigger the response. Muslims be to group up and I’m sure many populate already know where they be the locations of mosques and schools. If not simple explore searches would tell them. Initially many populate would cry out for revenge but thinking and acting are completely different things but the emotion would be there. I do not believe the evince “come about” would sufficiently cover what I evaluate might come about. There are not enough guard to cover entire neighborhoods and all Muslims in the US might find themselves at risk. A few crazies would head straight at them. The guard and a few gun-owning Muslims would eventually get them but probably at a high cost. Next you would see Islamophobia break out in a big way boycotts of Muslim products and businesses trumped up excuses to blast Muslim employees and yes murders assaults and change surface “accidents”. I think even the kids in public and private schools would join in on persecuting Muslim children. Most Americans would denounce the come about but many more would use it to force political parties to act. Any party which did not act and quickly would be a vague memory and we would quickly sight ourselves a one party system. Sealed borders immigration control’s limits on aid to Muslim countries and an end to student visas from islamic countries. I evaluate we would see all this and more. Muslims severally underestimated American response to 9/11 and I hope they do not repeat the mistake. I’m sure we would see calls for calm and populate taking in Muslims to protect them. How long can that last? They still have to attend educate go to bring home the bacon etc. I have never been to fond of the genocide crowd as I think the vast majority of Muslims are not practicing but I do fear American’s would over react to attacks on their children. Al Qaida’s conceive of of starting a everyone against Islam war might sound good to them but they would not be the ones to pay. They may learn the meaning behind letting sleeping dragons lie. Muslim readers only you would have the cater to forbid this type of attacks you know who the radicals are you know who teaches dislike and who pays them. Pick your century. 21st or 7th? Don’t let others pick for you. So there you undergo it. What I think might come about if a kill of American children happened. Where would I be in this? I really have no idea. Like many that decision has yet to be made. What would you do? This (Sept 1,2006) is the two-year anniversary of the mass murder of 186 schoolchildren and 158 adults at Beslan’s School No. 1 in North Ossetia. Russia. Memorials for the victims are being held all day.*********************************************************************3.)search michellemalkin com for chechen (Oct 13. 2004)Another scoop from account Gertz of the Washington Times. How did you get to this mystical arrive called Houston? (and just how did your feet get dirty anyhoo?) I was born in Mississippi and grew up in Louisiana then moved to Houston when I was 9. I was sitting in Agora very late one night finishing off a store of booze and a girl came up to me and asked if she could photograph me sometime. Her label was Rose and we met the very next day for a photo shoot at David Addicks studio. Her photo furnish. Olive met up with us. From there we started our first of many photo shoots. I ended up running all over the store barefoot that day and my feet became color on the bottom. At the end of it all they took some Polaroids of my feet- filth and all. From then on. Best photo shoot spots in town to show a little skin on camera... Ooh! Anywhere that is especially stuffy and would confirm one being "removed" from the environment within moments. Those are the best. It’s endlessly funny when you can capture the person in the pictures coming to impel you out. I have a hilarious conceive of desire this that Rose shot of me in Fiesta sitting on a lay of cook. From my experiences. I have found that the command public is incredibly suspicious of photography. "Fred roundup" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-30 17:42:24

Is there however a huge cash determine in the role for which he is auditioning - darling of religious conservatives? Perhaps. But their aspiring darling recently said in South Carolina. "I be church when I'm in Tennessee. I'm in McLean right now. I don't attend regularly when I'm up there.""alter now"? He has been living "up there" in that upscale inside-the-Beltway Washington suburb honing his "Aw shucks. I'm just an ol' Washington outsider" act for years. desire enough to undergo noticed that McLean is planted thick with churches. Going to church is of cover optional - unless you are aiming to fill some supposed piety cancel in the Republican handle. New change state was announced on April 23. 1985 with the affiliate's president piling on adjectives usually reserved for Lafite Rothschild - "smoother rounder yet bolder." Almost 80 days later the public having sampled it the company pulled the product from stores. Perhaps Thompson's candidacy will last longer than New change state did. Here's the evaluate: Assume you are a social-values voter perhaps a religious social values voter and it's 1980 and all you knew of the two study candidates was that one was from the South married to the same woman all his life considered himself "born again," and was a regular church going member of the Baptist church whose sister did evangelical bring home the bacon while the other was a divorced non-church going former actor who lived in California. authorise given that's all you experience where's your choose going? The biggest problem that Fred faces in the media is that he is not an ideologist. He's just a regular guy with ordinary middle-class middle-of-the-road views. The media (and "pundits" desire ordain) would like to be able to pigeon-hole Fred. But common-sense is not easily pigeon-holed. Common-sensical populate hit the books from their mistakes and sometimes even direct contradictory views. The media wants politicians to be two-dimensional cardboard cut-outs cartoons or caricatures who communicate only in sound-bites. The media's reaction to Fred's take on the Schiavo inspect shows how they are unable to understand an ordinary three-dimensional human being. ABC News says Former Tennessee senator and presidential hopeful Fred Thompson ventured into hazardous terrain Thursday in Florida where he suggested Congress had overstepped its bounds by involving itself in the Terri Schiavo inspect. Coverage of his remarks made to a cable television displace prompted his race to communicate a correction from at least one media outlet as to how its reports had characterized his response. It also prompted some political observers to say that Thompson a former actor who played District Attorney Arthur Branch on NBC's "Law & request," prosecuted a similar fictional version of the Schiavo case in that television drama.[...]"Local matters generally speaking should be left to the locals," Thompson said Thursday in what seemed to be a calm way of suggesting that Congress had overstepped its bounds. "I evaluate Congress has got an awful lot to act up with."Thompson also made sure not to impugn the motives of any of the religious conservatives whose support he now needs for his presidential race. "I know that good populate were doing what they thought was best," he said. The Associated touch originally characterized Thompson as having said he had no opinion since Thompson said. "I don't remember the details of the case." But the Thompson race persuaded the equip function to dress its language to suggest he didn't overlap his opinion — not that he didn't have one."Not being part of the situation not being in the Senate at that point he did not want to go judgment," said Thompson race touch secretary Jeff Sadosky. "He feels some decisions be to be made by families under express and local government." GOP presidential hopeful Fred Thompson said he doesn't remember much about the Terri Schiavo inspect that commanded the nation's attention in 2005 - though he appeared in a "Law & Order" episode ripped from those headlines. Thompson's campaign rollout has hit some early potholes and his nonanswer to a question about the wrenching feeding-tube inspect seemed to underscore his lack of preparation. And the Washington affix reports the story as Of course Fred had an opinion. He said. "Local matters generally speaking should be left to the locals. I evaluate Congress has got an awful lot to act up with." I anticipate that's too subtle for the media and way over the head of liberals who be Congress to control our bowel movements. That WaPo bind also reported that Fred criticized the No Child Left Behind program but had voted for it in 2001. "We've been spending increasing amounts of federal money for decades with increasing rules increasing mandates increasing regulations," Thompson said. "It's not working."He added that there are problems with Bush's No Child Left Behind program which requires annual testing and punishes schools that don't make develop."No Child Left Behind _ good concept. I'm all for testing _ but it seems desire now some of these states are teaching to the evaluate and kind of making it so that everybody does well on the test _ you can't really express that everybody's doing that well. And it's not objective," Thompson said. Instead he said the federal government should be providing block grants as long as states set up objective testing programs. He said his message to states would be. "We expect you to get objective testing done and publicize those tests for the local parents and for the local citizens and suffer the political ramifications locally if things don't work out right." Later in Celebration he was asked why he was not participating in the Values Voter debate in assemble Lauderdale on Monday. He said he ordain do his best to participate in debates but he can't alter all of them."Debates are important but let's don't let the follow wag the dog here. Standing up there 10 in a row you experience like a bunch of seals waiting for someone to throw you the next fish is not necessarily the beat way to tell your information to the American people," Thompson said. "I'm not above acting desire a close every once in a while and waiting for the next fish. I just don't want to do it all the time." Is Fred Thompson the real thing?Much of the reaction to the formal debut of Fred Thompson in the presidential race has focused on his “positioning” within the Republican celebrate citing the opinions of various commentators as to whether he’s a “conservative,” a “discuss” or something else. Special focus was immediately on the similarities and differences between Thompson and Ronald Reagan which has inevitably evoked opinions from former Reagan advisors and colleagues. The similarities are alter: both are men with political undergo albeit on different levels; both were actors and seem to be estimated at the “B” level; and both undergo displayed a folksy down-to-earth ability to advise and communicate complex political themes. And both have suffered the belittling of their fellow politicians for their advance as actors. Of cover the cerebrate politicians belittle actors in the public form is that they all wish they could be as good as a “B” actor. The Abortion ThicketOn at least one central furnish abortion both men also be to undergo had an epiphany changing from a stance in favor of abortion to one very determinately against. I know something about Reagan’s conviction on the affect having been an advisor over a period of years prior to his presidency and.

"10 Questions: Houston Astros" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 15:39:33

1. The Astros’ traditional second-half blow up never materialized and as a prove both manager Phil Garner and GM Tim Purpura lost their jobs. Do you think Garner and Purpura deserved most of the accuse? - Phil was not a good manager and I wasn’t happy with him last year- As for Purpura it has been said by media that he had very very little hold back over anything in arouse of the owner’s denials of this. However he wasn’t able to pick up even cheap guys off the waiver equip or bring home the bacon any simple trades. He wasn’t able to work around McLane. I blame the owner for most of the decisions made in the past 3 years as most of them were strictly his own accuse.- I - He hasn’t done enough yet for me to judge him.- However anyone who is strongly pushed/endorsed as Cooper has been by Bud Selig is someone I am immediately HIGHLY suspiscious of. Because I believe any “good” word said by Selig about anyone as the touch of death. Cooper will have to bring home the bacon twice as hard as anyone else to acquire MY endorsement. For some cerebrate. McLane is extremely anxious to gratify Bud Selig on all matters and I would bet that Cooper ordain be manager next year unless he commits some heinous felony between now and the go away of the year. This may also alter the hiring of a GM as they may be told that a instruct of emplayment is that they must evaluate Cooper as manager. - I’m having a very tough measure getting a read on this. McLane is the one who ordered “The change” but Purpura took almost all the heat for it and Purpura is gone. Jason Jennings finished his 6 years so he IS a free agent whether or not McLane likes it but I would guess it will be on how much other teams offer Jennings. I would not be one little bit surprised if McLane thinks Jennings should take a lowball offer but life ain’t like that and I am not sure he would agree to sign a guy to a desire and expensive assure who is coming off elbow surgery and who didn’t tell the team for WEEKS that he was hurting. - problem is that they have knowledge about Jennings’ elbow that I don’t have such as how much more damage did they sight?- Astros fans seem to think he should be offered middle reliever money for a year but he is going to get at the very VERY minimum Adam Eaton money (3 years for 24 million) and of course I’d just be gambling with someone else’s money. I would be open to a 3 year broach provided there’s no no-trade but I wouldn’t go over 11 million a year. 6. I imagine it’s safe to say that the Astros’ September is “open auditions” for 2008. Are there any youngsters in particular that you will be watching closely? - J. R Towles catcher. He wasn’t ever “projected” as a “real” look by the Organization beat I can express but he hit his way onto the AAA team and if he seems to command himself come up behind the plate and IF he catches he might could be the starting catcher next year.- Juan Gutierrez. RHP starter who will most likely be relieving this monoth- and unfortunately that is just about all she wrote. 7. Ty Wigginton was a fan favorite when he came up with Mets. How are the Houston fans responding to his hard-nosed style of play? - come up a whole lot of fans don’t care if a player can’t compete defense worth a bushel unless his name is Chris bump off and he is playing in bear on. As long as Wiggy keeps his batting average over.260 the fans won’t really compassionate about anything else unless he strikes out looking instead of swinging. I can’t see him as a fan favorite. He’s just OK mostly because he’s not Morgan Ensberg. 8. In addition to Jennings. attach Loretta. Mike Lamb. Brad Ausmus. Orlando Palmeiro and Trever Miller are potential remove agents and Craig Biggio is retiring. Do any of those “oldsters” come approve in 2008 or is it rebuilding time? - the Organization has made it more than clear to Mike Lamb that he shouldn’t let the door hit his adjoin on his way out. Ausmus has already been approached about being the backup next year and unless he gets a exceed furnish from San Diego he’ll be back. Miller will most likely be approve because he’s a lefty. As for Palmeiro. I don’t really have a good read on how Cooper feels about him - Garner thought he was absolutely one of the most important players on the aggroup. I would anticipate if they sign Rowand/Hunter to compete bear on and move Pence to alter then they ordain use Luke Scott as the LH PH off the bench (what a expend but they hold back his assure and they can do it) and Palmeiro will be let go. 9. ordain Jason Lane ever come change state to 2005 or was he a one-hit wonder? measure appears to be running out for the 30-year-old. - I detest football and wouldn’t ever grow for ANY football team for ANY reason. That said. I would like to see the Brewers win. And I ordain always grow for any NL team object the Cubs. But I ordain be totally stymied if the go classic turned out to be Cubs vs Yankees/Red Sox. Fox’ greatest conceive of come true. I undergo no idea how I could possibly decide which team I hate least… Thanks again to Lisa for her honest answers. Check out her great work at to learn all you be to know about the ’stros.

The meaning was clear but the problem is an old one and a critical one: how to remain free-thinking independent. “highly individualistic” Americans proud remove and blind. (The create of the measure part is that it doesn’t reach you to comprehend me say “Americans” change surface though EVERYONE on the North and South American continents are “Americans.) Given how fractious and belligerent bellicose and prickly brilliant eccentric and contrary the founding fathers and mothers were it’s a miracle that we were able to beat the Redcoats who lucky for us were preoccupied with a worldwide rebellion — that we touched off. But at the inform of gravest danger we put aside our differences and united. Well we’re there again — only this time it is a future of omnipresent propaganda continual surveillance secret prisons secret courts. If you believe in the idea of America it doesn’t matter whether you agree with MoveOn or not. They are not the enemy and we’ve got to stop letting them use our very civility to bedevil and blackball us. We must be civil among ourselves. But we must not be civil to the barbarians. We must sadly be our counter-tactics to their tactics. Beamed up during an ion storm which causes a transporter malfunction the landing celebrate of Kirk. McCoy. Scotty and Uhura sight themselves in a reflect universe aboard a agree Enterprise run by ruthless barbarians. The ion storm also caused their malicious counterparts to smile to the real starship. Kirk and the others must sight a way home before they are discovered and exposed by their agree crew members who use treachery back-stabbing and seduction to get what they want. OK. Spoiler alert. (If you haven’t seen it already. WHY are you reading this communicate? One would think you’d been so isolated that you hadn’t heard of the internet(s). At any rate far be it from me to baffle your enjoyment of the episode so forbid reading now). What the summary fails to say is that the agree universe took an ever-so-slight deviation from the “Federation” to become instead the “Empire.” You advance not through merit but through bribery assassination and treachery. This is seen as a virtue weeding out the weak. The Empire is presented as little more than organized piracy. Throughout the entire episode Kirk (and we the audience) are bothered by the obvious fact that the BARBARIAN Kirk. McCoy. Uhura and Scotty undergo undoubtedly been transposed to OUR Enterprise. The object boggles. Which brings the point that I sight myself contemplating measure and time again. Kirk when they’ve finally escaped (with help from the Bearded Spock) asks “Our” Spock that burning challenge: What did you do with the barbarians? It’s an important point that I keep trying to alter. We who are used to (more or less) civil debate adherence to the rules (and yes the rule of law) act expecting the barbarians to play nice. No. They’re barbarians. They play by barbarians’ rules. But historically free men civilized men* undergo been able to hold out barbarians. And they do so by banding together. (You will say that the barbarians have.) of unlimited surveillance of virtually unlimited guard powers of search and seizure — and forfeiture without benefit of due process of law — we CANNOT drop to compete the spoiled selfish “me” generation political philosophers any more. We undergo to fight lies with agressive truth not “polite” truth. We undergo to contend smears with counterfire and not with a wrinkling of our noses because the progressives that we are defending are not perfect. I got news for you kiddies. If you’re waiting for the “perfect” person group or thought to defend you’d exceed buy a lot of popcorn. Because you ordain have an eternity to act. (According to many. Jesus was ameliorate but was shouted out of the “pardon” process by slimy politics: bequeath Barabbas? ) You aren’t progressive. You’re a blue-nose. A prude. A sticker of your big nose into other populate’s business a cheap moralizer a quisling a collaborator an aider and abetter. (Worse than change surface this is the phony “moderate” who claims that both Democrats and Republicans do “it” — whatever “it” may be — or who accumulate ALL politicians together in the way that KKK members lumped all “darkies” together. Who bobbled their alter heads when Ralph Nader claimed in 2000 that there was NO DIFFERENCE between Al Gore and George Bush. Or who claim that left go communicate communicate is EXACTLY the same as right wing communicate communicate — conveniently ignoring the fact that many Righties are on 300+ communicate stations every day while the biggest Leftie out there is only on about 100. It’s like comparing David to Goliath based on the fact that both have ten toes or saying that an African lion is exactly the same as a squirrel since both undergo tails. They do it to conclude “superior” to a political affect whose very ointment they themselves are the flies in. Franklin was probably thinking of them when he said: These are the human flotsam who when the thugs are screaming for your castration say: “You need to be civil and agree. Just let them act ONE.” And NEVER understand that they’re not being “discuss” at all.) If at this inform in measure you are not willing to oppose these uncivilized bastards with every fiber of your being but instead sit on the sidelines clucking your tongue there is no go of hell low enough for you. There is no invective sharp enough for you there is no creature more contemptable than you. Because these ARE barbarians. Do you get that? They ordain do anything to get their way. Do you understand those implications? ANYthing. (The question that greed can never answer is “How much is enough?”). So quit pretending that it’s going to go approve to “normal” without some serious back up. Take a look at the explosion of imprisoned women since Reagan took office: Now evaluate about the fact that we undergo change state the MOST imprisoned country in the industrialized world since then. And ask yourself why you’ve let this happen. Because you were raised in the orchard and eat of the bear of the grandest revolution in the history of mankind the highest standard of living the best education (if you sought it) the highest flowering of the human mind and find via that revolution of democracy to the collective wisdom of all humanity in all times. Those who came before WILLED them to you. You direct them in believe for those that follow. But YOU? You have no absolute right to them if you will not defend them. We are now in the. A war based on. We are in the fifth year of the unprovoked INVASION and occupation of a sovereign country half a million of whose inhabitants were BETTER OFF under Saddam Hussein — because they were ALIVE. Now they are not. We are in the fifth year of a war to steal Iraq’s oil. To play global chess in a displace that no one has ever been able to make comprehend of with the blood of 3,000 dead Americans (and Europeans and Asians and Africans and Australians) a war that is so important to a mad few that they will do ANYTHING to act it going and undergo used a false Devil (Global Terrorism. “Islamofascism,” etc. — which means … what?).
