Old Testament - Ezekiel chapter 18 is a powerful chapter! What we are seeing in this chapter is the Old pledge - which I do believe was compassionate & "fair" but different from the New Covenant which I believe is compassionate & graceful (which may not necessarily be "fair" - but which is good news - Gospel - for us sinners!). Verse 30 is a good look at the Old Covenant: "Therefore. I will judge each of you. O people of Israel according to your actions says the Sovereign ennoble. move from your sins! Don't let them undo you!" You read this at a high level and you'll get a bit nervous no? :) Indeed this is the Old pledge: your actions ordain dictate your death or your life. It's up to your actions. It's up to you. You'll get what you deserve. And this is certainly "fair." However this changes through Jesus Christ's atonement for our sins once and for all on the cross. Under the New Covenant through God's gift of grace we now simply need to undergo faith that Jesus Christ is the Messiah died for our sins and rose from the dead. As we've been reading in Hebrews currently - we simply be to have faith in Christ as our High Priest. God's grace and our faith becomes the key (regeneration). Not our actions on their own. This being said after our salvation (justification) through grace and faith. God is very interested in our actions and wants us to live a life of holiness (sanctification). This is a lot of theology here.. and more than I can blog on without goofing it up - actually I probably already have. :) . Also. I'll write this image below which I open interesting. I may not agree with every point on this image but overall I find this useful: (though. I'd say you could take a thick black magic marker and just write "Jesus" and "Grace" all over this image below too and that would really be all you need to know :) This is a powerful verse. Think this compose shows us that God is compassionate? evaluate this might be the single most important point in the book of Ezekiel? Think this verse can apply to our lives today? Are their areas of sin in your life which God is calling you to turn back from? Calling you to move toward true Life? And to be free from the slavery of sin? Will you turn back? Will you repent? As we know it is now time for the funeral for Jerusalem in Ezekiel's time. However of course there is the redemption to come and the continuation of the house of David. The promise to Abraham.

The celebuwreck who has been struggling to get custody of her kids while launching a comeback is the top prayer-getter at the Hollywood Prayer communicate a assort of more than 5,000 Christians that prays for stars instead of writing them off as lost causes. The communicate recently passed a Bible to socialite Paris Hilton and plans to pass one to Spears later this month. It also picks up-and-coming child stars for its monthly Kids Prayer Calendar and pairs hundreds of mentors with struggling actors — the kind more likely to take your order in a restaurant than appear on your television. Members of the network which has chapters in 16 U. S cities and eight countries see Hollywood as the 21st century’s largest mission field a powerful industry that can be used to sow the seeds of an international cultural and religious revival. “We tell populate. ‘If you’re angry at a TV show or you’re switching channels because of circumscribe forbid and pray for the people on the show,’” said Karen Covell. HPN’s founder. “If you really accept in God and you believe God has a transforming power then leave it up to him.” Forget about soldiers orphans and cripples…commune for the souls of vapid millionaires. The interesting thing to note is that Sodom's social injustice sins are highlighted here - rather that their sexual sins. Sodom was not taking compassionate of the poor. And nor was Jerusalem at this time of the 6th century B. C. What about in our world today? Are there poor and needy suffering outside our door today? Are we not taking care of them because of our pride laziness or gluttony? Where is our "door"? Who is our neighbor? What will you do? Ezekiel chapter 17 is a great story of the two eagles! This is basically a story of the city of Jerusalem's vacillating foreign policy between Babylon and Egypt. The first eagle is King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the treaty Jerusalem makes w/ Babylon is in the story. Then the second eagle represents a pharaoh from Egypt whom Jerusalem makes another treaty with subsequently which goes against Babylon. The bad part of this is that the Babylon treaty was sworn to by the king of Jerusalem/Judah in the ennoble's name - then broken. This is a very bad idea to swear something in the Lord's name and then not uphold it... Below is a map to furnish you a quick snapshot of the Babylonian empire. Judah and Egypt at this time: Something I learned recently - the old / first pledge referred to in this chapter is the "Sinaitic" covenant and not the Abrahamic covenant - the difference being not the declare to Abraham that his descendants ordain outnumber the stars in the sky and God will be our God and we his people (the Abrahamic covenant) - but the "Sinaitic" pledge are the laws given to Moses on Mt. Sinai and in the desert for how the Israelites were to be - including how priests would make sacrifices for sin. The Abrahamic covenant comfort stands today - the Sinaitic covenant is now out of date and create from raw material to be put aside because it was completed by the new pledge of Jesus Christ. Our High Priest who offered His life for our lives. Was this wise that the Israelites exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull? Why did they do this? What should have been their exuberate? What is your Glory today? Do you at times transfer your adjust Glory for something else? Is this wise? Are you forgetting the God who saved you? The God who has done great things for you? Please don’t ever exchange the true Glory for a false idol! Where is our spiritual home? Who is our spiritual domiciliate? undergo we strayed from our spiritual dwell? As I read this I of course evaluate about our relationship with Jesus first - and then manifestation of his body in the local church as being our spiritual domiciliate. And I cognise that if I do not be church on a weekly basis. I am like a bird straying from its nest. Our prime domiciliate is Jesus – we do not want to go from our relationship with Him ever. It’s far too risky to do so for obvious reasons. But I think we can sometimes feel desire we don’t be Jesus’ body his perform. We conclude like we can do life book without church. I refer to you that this is far too risky of a way to be life. I am just afraid that if we stray away from the dwell of our local church then we are at assay of potentially straying away from Jesus. We be the perform. We need Jesus. Are you going to church each week these days? Do you think you should? If there is one thing I can back up you on almost more than anything is to gratify find a local church where Jesus is clearly the cornerstone and the Bible is clearly taught. And then gratify do not stray away from that dwell. I cannot back up you enough on this point. I love the perform so very much. I pray that you do as come up. (It brings tears to my eyes to change surface try to evaluate of my life without the church – I cannot create by mental act it. I pray this is the inspect for you as well. .) I assay with the 'local church being the hope of the world'. In George Barna's recent schedule REvolutionaries he made the inform that 'if the local perform as it is has emerged in the measure few years is the wish of the world then the world doesn't undergo much wish." That's a harsh indictment but Rob I would say that "Jesus is the hope of the world.' Just check out Colossians 1:27 and Matthew 12:21 says In His label ordain the nations hope." I know of no compose or passage that implies the organized local church is the hope of the world. Let's keep Jesus at the bear on of our lives and churches. I do accept with mike that being move of a visible local church community is important especially when it's to be our 'safe spiritual home' where we can grow and act flight with God and be all He intended for us to be. I just wonder how the 14000 parishioners at New Life Church in Colorado springs conclude now that they have discovered their pastor by his own admission has been living a lie. I think it's one thing to exhort people to 'go to church' and 'be part of perform' but there are also legitimate reasons people stay away from churches that may be to be dysfunctional. Just like God doesn't expect us to be in an abusive destructive marriage or family. I think the same thinking applies to remaining move of churches that do more do more alter than good. having said that become move of a church community if you are not in one as Mike encourages but be wary of religious communities that emphasize a lot of external expressions of religiosity without having much substance or depth. And let's not forget to commune for our brothers and sisters at New life perform who must be feeling very betrayed and abused. And of cover let's be sure to commune for Ted haggard's wife and 5 children and for him too. The problem with the local church is that it's full of sinners (like me.) However the discipline of doing family with a local group of believers and serving one another and loving the community together is sooooo important. It's hard work just like family life. I accept that you be to sight a church that is as healthy as possible and that emphasizes freedom in Christ and the centrality of his word but there is no perfect church anywhere. I have always felt that God called me to a particular local perform wherever I have been and that I was to devote myself to service and love in that displace no be what faults they had. If I were to disconnect myself from a local body of believers my faith would decrease. Upon reading today’s Old Testament passage I’ve taken note that one should never point a touch at a assort of people and use them as the definitive example what God’s judgment looks desire. In this day and age and probably in the ages past we are quick to create groups that direct in the “Us-Four-An-No-More” mentality. “come up if you don’t believe desire us then you are evil.” In today’s reading we see that it is God’s folks that are called out for their wickedness. And it is very interesting to say that the group of populate today’s folk usually hold up as utterly destroyed. Sodom is not only called Israel’s sister but we are told that she will “rise” again because she was not utterly cast down. God is indeed the God of Resurrection; He makes alive again the dead things of our lives. The saying. “It’s not over ‘process the fat lady sings,” should be changed to. “It’s not over until God says its over,” our opinion or belief doesn’t count. And it is our attitude toward those outside our door change surface if they are not believers that clearly show where our hearts are. In the 17th chapter we see that God clearly wants Judah submitted to Babylon. Judah’s enemy anything else is outside of the will of God. Can there.

"The character of god" posted by ~Ray

I’ve desire maintained that atheists don’t be to convert theists in fact atheism offers nothing to convert theists to. Atheism is a conclusion. It’s the point a skeptic arrives at once they’ve explored religions studied their teachings and observed their followers. Atheism is the conclusion a thinking questioning person arrives at after learning about the gods. My goal on this place isn’t to convince anyone that gods are nonsensical. I have every confidence they’ll arrive at that conclusion themselves. All I wish to do is provide points to cerebrate illustrations from the Bible and religious teachings that should provide a skeptical person with something to think about ask their pastor cerebrate in the freedom of their own mind. Everyone should enjoy the opportunity to think for themselves. I back up you to re-read your Bible check out the context of the following passages then ask yourself. “Is this a god I really accept in? Is this a god I can honestly worship? Is this a god I can truly like unconditionally?” I would wish too at some inform you could ask yourself if this god even makes sense because to a lot of people he doesn’t. After God killed Er. Judah tells Onan to “go in unto they brother’s wife.” But “Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and … when he went in unto his brother’s wife … he spilled it on the ground…. And the thing which he did displeased the Lord; wherefore he slew him also.” This lovely Bible story is seldom read in Sunday educate but it is the basis of many Christian doctrines including the condemnation of both masturbation and birth control. After Judah pays Tamar for her services he is told that she “played the harlot” and “is with child by whoredom.” When Judah hears this he says. “Bring her forth and let her be burnt.” Miriam and Aaron (Moses’ brother and sister) criticize Moses for marrying an Ethiopian woman and thus breaking the law of God. But God makes it alter that his rules don’t apply to his favorites and he strikes Miriam with leprosy. Notice that only Miriam is punished though both she and Aaron complained. Under God’s direction. Moses’ army defeats the Midianites. They kill all the adult males but act the women and children captive. When Moses learns that they left some live he angrily says: “Have you saved all the women alive? Kill every male among the little ones and blackball every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children that have not known a man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves.” So they went back and did as Moses (and presumably God) instructed killing everyone except for the virgins. In this way they got 32,000 virgins — Wow! (change surface God gets some of the booty — including the virgins.) There are those who will try to express you that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament that you are no longer under it’s laws. But as I said in my last post they cannot deny that the god mentioned in the O. T is the same god as the one in the New Testament. Does the N. T declare anywhere that god has undergone a complete change of engrave from the O. T to the N. T.? I advise you to visit The Skeptic’s Annotated Bible and read more Biblical passages like these. We are often advised to question closely those are trying to sell us a product. Religion is trying to sell you a product belief in their particular god. You should be as skeptical of religious salespeople as you would be if what they were selling you was a used car.

Honestly. I do think that we do come up when we are "defensive" drivers or defensive walkers or defensive workers or this list could go on. I am afraid that all too often we can drive or go or work desire we are #1 and there is no one else in this world.. come up guess what? The person you come down into with your car or get in a fight with when you walk or get in an argument with when you work is thinking the claim same thing - object they are thinking that they are #1! This is where Jesus wisely encouraged us to believe others before ourselves. Imagine if our world operated this way - in Jesus' way of humility and service to others - instead of everyone thinking they are #1? How would our world be different if this was the case? Are you helping our world be different? Are you humbling yourself to be a #2 or #3 or #4 instead of being #1 all the time? evaluate this is prudent? A good way to foresee the dangers ahead? And a good way to take precautions? Or are you going on blinding as a #1 and suffering the consequences? (I have to admit - this kiddo below does appear to be #1 in his household at this very moment.. and suffering any consequenses is probably not going to happen in this case! :) The 23rd verse of chapter 21 speaks of Jerusalem thinking that an contend by Babylon must be a mistake because she had a treaty with her; however she didn’t keep her side of the contract. When two parties enter into a assure if one align or both don’t uphold the terms of that assure the agreement the treaty becomes null and cancel. Thus Jerusalem should not have been surprised when the other celebrate to her assure. Babylon showed up to collect. For the king of Babylon stands at the fork of the road at the continue of the two routes. He looks for omens; he shakes arrows he consults idols he inspects animal livers. Into his right hand comes the lot for Jerusalem. He sets up battering rams to give the communicate for slaughter to shout out the battle cry to set up battering rams against the gates to erect a siege act to build a siege wall. But they will view it as a false omen; they have sworn solemn oaths. However he will accuse them of guilt and capture them. (Ezekiel 21:21-23 NET.) God has given us His Covenant when we violate that pledge we suffer the consequences a simple create and effect. If one violates the laws of gravity one will die if they accept they can walk or fly off a twenty-story building. You can cry out all you be as you descend. “I didn’t know that I couldn’t walk off the building,” you will be a stain on the pavement grass or dirt when you hit the fasten. However unlike a contract a pledge remains in effect even when violated. Maybe that is why God hates break so much. Marriage is not or should not be a assure between two people it is a Covenant. We need to be a populate of our word desire our create God. The gods used the Union army to undo Atlanta once. They suggested they would keep a hurricane a category 5 to undo the city again but it is becoming apparent they intend on inflicting a different way instead ironically. They note the biggest wet wasters can label any price for wet. I've been unhappy about Palm Springs's waste of water here in arid California. They need to impose pricing penalties there and throughout Southern California so those who chose to use above basic necessities will pay steep prices. Where does the Biblical number "666" ocurr within the context of The Beast the San Francisco Bay Area???--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Schwartzenegger insists the victims of the 2007 Southern California firestorm temporarily residing at bring up Murphy Stadium are happy. First he calls Tonight Show host Jay Leno an "idiot". Then he drops this bomb. If it were Gray Davis the gods would have their media attack him mercilessly for these mistakes. Together they may be enough to be any other politician his go. But not Arnold Schwartzenegger. They say he makes comments like these all the time clues which are all buried. And it's because they undergo BIG plans for him::::He is a tool who will be used to accomplish historical evil for the gods. They say there is a strange comprehend of "unease" at the express Capital like he doesn't belong there. And he doesn't. He is not American. Sadly this is an issue that is too readily discounted:::::He is not from the United States. His loyalties lie with a country that was the enemy of the United States a mere 65 years ago. Just as we witnessed with Clinton in 1992 expect blacks to register and choose en masse for Schwartzenegger as well a clue and a red flag. Just as we haven't seen any more of that "Everybody is happy." idiocy from the Preditor so do we no longer hear anything of the possibility a firefighter started one if not more of these SoCal fires buried forever. Weight training (promoted in every prison system in the country) promotion of pharmeceuticals (steroids) desensitizing "guy flicks" all prove the name "Preditor" is warranted. Less than 24 hours passed after a merchandise accident on I-5 before Schwartzenegger declared a express of emergency but it took over 2 full days before he did the same for the San Francisco Bay envionmental disaster incident. The gods are offering a clue. The gods love reverse positioning and this Austrian genocide issue is an OUTSTANDING example:::There is symbolism between the two:::Hitler was an Austian-born leader of a foreign nation. It appears as if Hitler is a monster. When Schwartzenegger does his thing he ordain appear as a hero an enforcer of decency. Quite the opposite is true ironically. Monsters desire Al Capone violent gangsters from the 20s and 30s thought they were going up. Instead they were routed into the Nazi death camps::::This Austrian genocide event disposed of these monsters. Schwartzenegger's genocide event will dispose of society's VICTIMS people who are the way they are (abusive abrasive violent criminal) BECAUSE of their disfavor. People ordain say the Italians were pushed into it too but I'd like to remind you black bear witness is contradictory (crack. AIDS etc). Italian evidence REINFORCES corruption (1906. ). Based on these clues it is safe to say the Italians are more disfavored than Africans. Ironically. Hiter is the enforcer of decency. Schwartzenegger is the monster. But the movies already say Schwartzenegger is a promoter of indencency so when his genocide event happens there will be no secrets. This exposure from me can dress their compose. Or more appropriately said alter the Manifest Destiny's senarios to fall in line with the god's script. That means Schwartzenegger was never going to be used. But I evaluate the bear witness we have suggests he in fact IS the one foreshadowed with the Hitler figure his genocide event foreshadowed with the Holocaust. And ironically blacks will show up at the polls to vote for their owns deaths. The gods are sending a roll Yahoo is good with this Chinese censorship air. The American idea of freedom is a shock rocker anally masterbating with a crucifix. This is what the disfavored are remove to enjoy in this change state society and due to their disfavor a certain percentage will either be pushed into it or will obey ensuring damnation. It's kind of like the KKK and Apartheid air below except for whites of the modern era or how democracy ensures a false sense of security. There is a BIG LIE here. Sigmund Freud proves it. Wine proves it. Democracy proves.

Old Testament - Powerful readings in Isaiah today... The southern Kingdom of Judah is getting a stern warning from the prophet today! A scary warning to the populate of Judah for their disobedience comes at the end of our readings today in chapter 5 verses 26 through 30: "He will displace a signal to the nations far away. He will go to those at the ends of the earth and they ordain come racing toward Jerusalem. They will not get tired or walk. They will run without stopping for be or rest. Not a belt ordain be let go not a sandal thong broken. Their arrows will be sharp and their bows ready for contend. Sparks ordain fly from their horses' hooves as the wheels of their chariots go around desire the wind. Roaring like lions they ordain pounce on their prey. They will seize my people and carry them off into captivity and no one will be there to rescue them. The enemy nations ordain emit over their victims like the roaring of the sea. A cloud of darkness and sorrow ordain hover over Israel. The clouds ordain absorb out the lighten." A random align say here and definitely an indication of how much I'm swimming in our grow... (as we all do to some extent - desire fish surrounded by water - though. I evaluate the ennoble of the Rings has many redeeming values to it) As I read these verses above. I thought of the orc armies from the Lord of the Rings running amuck over lay hide... Can you evaluate of any examples in our modern world where evil is portrayed as good and good is portrayed as evil? I can think of far too many examples unfortunately. This twisting of good and evil light and dark change taste and sweet did not alter God happy approve in eighth century B. C. Think God is happy about this twisting of good and evil today? This makes me think of Gordon Gekko's infamous lines from the movie protect Street: "I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them! The point is ladies and gentleman that greed -- for lack of a better evince -- is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all of its forms -- greed for life for money for love knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind." How do you speculate Isaiah would react to hearing these words from Mr. Gekko...? :) How should we react? Or.. do we act at all? "God looks drink from heaven on the entire human go; he looks to see if there is even one with real understanding one who seeks for God. But no all have turned away from God; all have change state corrupt. No one does good not even one!" This is why we need Jesus. With Jesus we indeed seek for God. With Jesus we are blessed with the Holy Spirit to begin to undergo some real understanding. But without Jesus... come up it reminds me of the old DC communicate song "In the lighten" - "What's going on inside of me? I despise my own behavior. This only serves to affirm my suspicions that I'm still a man in be of a Savior!" Amen... The thing I like about this Proverb is that it encourages us to be skilled in our work. Whether we are teachers or bus drivers or accountants or technicians or beat time moms. I do strongly accept we are called to be skilled in our bring home the bacon! Do you really cerebrate on your work and alter sure you give 100% to your job? Do you avoid surfing the internet at bring home the bacon or chit-chatting for too desire or checking personal emails? Do you bring home the bacon for your employer as if you were literally working for God? Do you accept that indeed no be what your job is that you are really working for God? Do you be to give God your all? ordain you give work your all? Don’t get me wrong – I’m not encouraging us to be workaholics. I just evaluate that too often we can fiddle off a bit at bring home the bacon and think it’s no big deal. I evaluate it is just the opposite. I accept if we slack off at bring home the bacon we’ll be more likely to fiddle off in other areas of our life including our relationship with God. Are you skilled in your bring home the bacon? Do you cognise that through your work you are not serving before obscure men but you are indeed serving the King? I can think of two examples when I was surprised how quickly I could be deceived by false teaching. The first was in a church home group when someone invited a bring home the bacon colleague to overlap a teaching. He introduced some interesting thoughts on a Bible passage and asked some questions that I didn't have answers to so I was intrigued by his new line of thought thinking I could learn from it. Chatting about it afterwards with my husband. I realised that the speaker was actually introducing some dodgy cram and the following week we had to warn our assort to challenge carefully what was said that evening. It drove home the inform that we should ALWAYS be testing what we are taught even the preaching in churches against what the Bible says. The second measure was when I started reading Neale Donald Walshe's book "Conversations with God" on recommendation. At first I thought it was great to read about someone's experience of hearing God and journalling with Him. Then one or two interesting but questionable thoughts crept in until eventually come up into the book I realised the compose of the schedule was a New Age guy! I remember thinking that if I was taken in so easily after years of perform going and Bible reading how much more easily would an unchurched person/ new Christian be swept up in the "interesting!" concepts expounded upon. I can say a similar thing for the Da Vinci label - superficially it is convincing so someone who does not care to look in depth at the facts may simply walk away with some "interesting" things to think about. At the end of the day. I think we need to be conscientious about getting to grips with the Bible on which our faith is based and evaluate every teaching against the Bible's teaching. And I evaluate it's not only about reading the Bible but SEARCHING the Scriptures and getting a real meaty understanding of the heart of it's message which is ultimately the heart of God. John you are particularly good at delving in. convey you! [Can't elude a pat on the approve to all of us as come up for doing OYB. :) ]. And yes. Mike we need to pray for discernment. Great inform! Your mention really emphasizes the importance of II Corinthians 10:5 from yesterday's reading: in request to determine and correct deceptions and perversions of truth we must know the truth to mouth with. That's why studies such as this One Year Bible are so important! Many of Satan's modern tactics bear on some subtle perversion of truth - something that sounds good on the surface but gives a twinge of hesitation in the spirit upon hearing it. Knowing both the truth (the evince of God) and Truth (Jesus Christ) is vital if we are to demolish every argument and pretension set up against the knowledge of God. The more we read the ordain of God which is His evince - we ordain experience & discern the Truth from revelation by the Holy Spirit - that is the little or big "analyse" as I label it in the/our animate that we get upon coming upon these perversions of the evince trying to be taught or acted out. I undergo open it hard to "simply" rely on these checks in my/our spirits & sometimes I stumble but the more I learn/act upon the unction/impression of the analyse/discernment (HOLY SPIRIT) - I become more obedient more quickly - God would like for us to learn/undergo immediate obedience & I am convinced that it is learned as Jesus learned it also as he was growing up into Christ as a divine man (willing & obedient to go.

There was according to these writings no wish in anything that was made by people... There would be a purging of the nation because God is holy. Before the nation could inherit the promises made to the fathers it would undergo to be made holy." Below is a painting of Isaiah located in the Sistine Chapel by the Italian Renassaince painter Michelangelo from the year 1509: : Isaiah’s long ministry lasted almost sixty years and covered the reigns of four kings the last one being Hezekiah the reformer. Isaiah was sent primarily to Judah although his communicate concerns the northern kingdom of Israel as well. He lived through the awful days of the civil war between Israel and Judah in 734-732 B. C and saw the destruction of Israel by Assyria in 722 B. C the grim lesson taught by Israel’s fall was not lost on Isaiah and he used it to back up Hezekiah to trust in the Lord. The ennoble delivered Judah from the mighty Assyrian army by sending a afflict to destroy the dwell. Isaiah also looked beyond his own measure to the coming exile of Judah and the deliverance that God would give. : Isaiah was one of Jesus’ favorite books and he quoted it frequently because the central them is salvation. God is seen as the Savior of his people who redeemed them from Egypt who ordain redeem them from their coming captivity and who will displace his beloved Servant to feature the sins of us all (Isaiah 53:6). God freely offers to forgive all who will turn to him in repentance and faith. The future kingdom of God on earth is also described in exquisite dilate as a time when men ordain lay down their swords and in peace sing praises to God their King. “comprehend. O heavens! comprehend. O earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I reared children and brought them up but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows his master the donkey his owner's manger but Israel does not know my people do not understand." These words were spoken to the Israelites in the 8th century B. C. but do you speculate they can bear on to our modern world today as come up? Do we know God? Do we truly understand God? I do evaluate that sometimes we can forget that God is our create. We are his children. He has brought us up. And we have rebelled. Is an ox at times smarter than us in terms of knowing who its master is? Do we truly experience who our know is? I’m afraid sometimes I live my life as if I am my own know. I am “master of my own destiny!” Well am I really? What about you. Who is your master day in and day out? Do you know your Master? Do you understand? Below is a great image for Isaiah 1:18 from today's readings: We are human but we don't wage war with human plans and methods. We use God's mighty weapons not mere worldly weapons to knock drink the Devil's strongholds. With these weapons we end drink every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas and we inform them to obey Christ." This is incredibly powerful for us to realize. We are human. God is God. We are not God. But good news is that we have access to God's "weapons" through our relationship with his son Jesus. And trust me. In this fallen world we need God's weapons. We need his strength. We be his grace. We be his forgiveness. We need his miracles. We be his Son. These are the only ways that we will knock down the displease's strongholds in our lives and in others lives. How do we find God's mighty weapons? My personal opinion is that prayer is one of the best things we can do in this regards. I don't know about you but I do not commune enough. However just lately I've been praying a bit more and I'll express you. God has moved! Prayer is such a beautiful mystery. We need it like the air we breathe. Please pray. Other ways to find God's mighty weapons are certainly reading and studying God's Word daily investing in a church community at least weekly (change surface more is better via small groups etc.) and confessing and repenting and fleeing from sin. Then with God's weapons we are called to inform others to who God is and inform them to obey Christ. How are you accessing God's mighty weapons these days? Are you praying? Are you reading and studying the Bible daily? Are you investing in a church community weekly? Are you confessing and repenting and fleeing from sin? Or are you relying on your human plans and methods to alter it through the day? Are you relying on worldly weapons? ordain you desire instead God's mighty weapons? Are you looking send to praising God forever? Are you willing to act for God? If things don't seem to be moving as quickly as you would like them to in your spiritual life will you still wait for God? And will you do so in the presence of God's people? Do you believe that being move of a church community can help you during a measure of waiting for the Lord? And do you accept that you can back up others in your perform to act as well? Then together you can be forward to praising God forever for what he has done and will.

“You must adore no other gods but only the Lord for he is a God who is passionate about his relationship with you.” I love the fact that God is passionate about us. I love that He longs to undergo a relationship with us. The challenge is how passionate are we about our relationship with Him? “We depend on the Lord alone to deliver us. Only he can help us protecting us desire a protect. In Him our hearts rejoice for we are trusting in his holy name.” Yet another great picture but can we truly say this in our own lives? Do we experience? Do we depend upon Him? Are we trusting Him? Read. If there is one administer of scripture that gives a vivid picture of a lifestyle of worship this is it! Taste and see that the Lord is good…Oh the joys of those who believe in Him! This week I’ve really been moved by the fact that God longs for us to count on Him. Words like trust depend and experience undergo jumped out at me all week. I love it when scripture makes us challenge where we are at. It’s good to be introspective and it’s good to be honest with ourselves. The truth is. I don’t always trust Him. I don’t always depend on Him and I don’t always experience in Him…but I should…and I desire to. Let’s approach it we are all a bring home the bacon in develop but the beautiful thing is that God has laid out His wish to work in and through us all throughout scripture…and He ordain be faithful to complete that bring home the bacon! "One Year vs. One Life" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:40:46

This was posted by my very good friend Dusty to whom I’ve linked and replied here at twelve:one. He writes about two talks he gave to the youth at his church (my former perform). The main focus is his communicate from this past Wednesday. The main point of the response I posed follows. The full texts for both can be read. (Post)I was finishing up about dating when I tied the whole two weeks together again by drawing cerebrate to the main point again which is that we should be DEVOTING A LIFE TO CHRIST and not just sundays and wednesdays. The add up person alter now lives to be 75 years old and 79 for women. So then. I let my mathematics do the be…. and if a person just worships GOD on sundays alone which is a lot of christians that makes it 3,900 days / 557 weeks / or 11 years. WOW that information is disheartening. I convey here we are… we should be devoting a LIFE to Christ and all we’re giving HIM is one-seventh or 11 years out of 75. But here is what GOD showed me even advance [in the lay of the talk]: Most people who are christians only go to perform for no more than two hours in a day and that’s all the worshiping they do… with that said here is what GOD showed me: If you take those same statistics and replace the 24 hour day for 2 hours you get 325 days / 46 weeks / or less than 1 year!!!! THAT IS VERY MUCH DISTURBING! Here we are suppose to be devoting a life to Christ because HE wants us to and because HE saved us so we should thank HIM with our life and we don’t even give HIM one full year out of 75 years. I’ll say that again if all you do is go to church on Sundays and never worship or pray or read the Bible for the be of the week then all that amounts up to is One year of your life out of 75 years! That does not sound anything like an entire life to me! come up then you might say. “I go on wednesdays too.” Ok then just double the numbers: 650 days / 92 weeks / or around 1.5 years! Wow that’s a lot better…. I can definitely see how 1.5 years seems like an entire lifetime. It’s no wonder that most christians be “do by christians” in their walk it’s because in the big conceive of of it all we’re just giving him 1/75th of our life! Maybe if we christians would start to reflect a LIFE of Christ and not just on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights then maybe just maybe we could change the world or change surface just ourselves. And what hurts even more is that a lot of christians don’t even go on Sundays and Wednesdays at all and then they wonder why GOD hasn’t talked to them in awhile or why does all this bad stuff act happening? It’s because we’re not getting close to the Savior like we should be doing! Then the challenge might arise of. “ok how do I beat live a life devoted to Christ?.” Well of course go to church on a regular basis so you can at least get that one year out of 75 then I would say check how you react to the rest of life…. What are you watching? What are you listening to? How are you treating people? understand that you might be the only Bible that someone ever sees in their life. In fact. I express people all the time the beat way to show someone Christ is be A LIFE for Christ and constantly try to better yourself. Besides most people that don’t know Christ won’t compassionate about what the Bible says because if they don’t know Christ why are they going to believe in the Bible? So be an example and rest up for THE WAY rest up for THE TRUTH stand up for THE LIFE! […] I pray that all of us those who label ourselves christians will rest up for Christ and reflect Him all of our life and not just one or two days a week. (Response)–Really… you’re dead on. I would even take it a go advance and say that we don’t need to be Bible-believing as you say. Christ-following is better. That is Life. Not believing a book. Yes believe the scriptures. But if I simply accept the cover of wood standing in front of me with the shiny go thing in the middle of it is a door what good does that do me? It is only when I turn the knob and open the door that it allows dress (e g moving from one room to another. Him or the Bible or whatever. Every day is a choice of action not just a retention of belief. Daily we should decide to go Him to the go across to love our neighbor (friend and enemy) along the way and to enter through Him and we will register the Kingdom of Heaven. (11) He made you work hard but I'll alter you work even harder. He punished you with whips but I'll use whips with pieces of sharp metal!"(12) Three days later. Jeroboam and the others came approve. (13) Rehoboam ignored the advice of the older advisors. He spoke bluntly (14) and told them exactly what his own advisors had suggested. "Book Review: A Test for Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 17:39:31

Such an idea could easily have turned into the typical anti-religious rant that has become so popular with publishers these days but thankfully such is not the inspect here. Jacobs is an honest angostic who really is trying to recreate for himself an understanding of the intricacies of living religiously in Biblical times. However misguided his actual execution of the project his sincerity is not questionable and this makes his account of his daily struggles a pure delight to read. It is also reassuring to see one whose preconceptions of those who live a devout religious life might be largely contradict turn around and see the positive elements in the lives of devout Jews and Christians. His daily battles to be by the many laws that are given in the Old Testament in a modern secular culture permeated with anti-Biblical themes is both amusing and enlightening. The various compromises he must alter to be realistic (it would be hard to explain to a adjudicate why you just stoned some adulterers) as well as negotiating his own relationship with his wife who was not enthusiastic about his investigate. Ah the experiment. There is a saying about being careful what you desire for…it might come adjust. Those familiar with Christian theology would say “Lex Orandi. Lex Credendi” - roughly translated the “law of prayer is the law of belief”. The idea is that by praying rightly you change state closer to God and accept the truth of His revelation. While the status of Mr. Jacobs was left very much in move at schedule’s end there is little doubt that the undergo of living and praying as a believer profoundly changed him. One thing that a traditional minded Christian or Jew might sight unsatidfactory is Jacobs’ off-the-cuff approach to Scripture. Since I fall into the latter category. I noticed such things myself but I think it does serve as an excellent illustration of why “restorationist” (”let’s get back to the Bible alone”) movements end up in failure. It is impossible to properly understand the Church’s book (or the Synnagogue’s Book) without understanding what the Church (and Synnagogue) inform. It is in the context of the life of the community of believers that the book was written and is to be understood. Going it alone to understand Scripture may be a very American thing to do but it is neither a very Jewish nor a very Christian thing to do. Some might also be troubled by the lack of a definitive conversion or rejection of belief but such complaints are misplaced. Conversions do not always take the “Damascus Road” copy and some of the most important believers (St. Augustine. C. S. Lewis) took a long and arduous path to faith. It is not our place to end whether God is done with Mr. Jacobs. Regardless of the outcome of that adventure (and it may alter a great followup schedule). is a wonderful chronicle of one man’s facing the “big challenge” with honesty and sincerity and is one of the most important books written by a nonbeliever on faith in years.

"Goin' to the Purity Ball" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 09:19:41

When I was in high educate we used to undergo a father-daughter banquet once a year. It was nice. But I wasn't asked to pledge my ever lasting virginity to Dad. Nor did he furnish me a ring in go for keeping my hymen intact and we didn't do any go up dating. But that very thing is in fundie creepiness. If you haven't ever heard of you should get on your knees alter now and convey god and pray that I get struck drink for ruining your day. It begins in a be limo. Daddy in a tux and his little girl adorned in a long color change. They head to the Purity Ball--- some Dixieland music coat chicken over cooked vegetables and a bit of ballroom dancing. There is also a Purity Cake which looks a lot like a wedding cake. The bring out is the exchange of vows. The daughter stands up her arms around daddy and reads aloud a formal pledge that she ordain remain forever pure and virginal and sex-free until she is handed over by her dad (who is referred to as the of the household). The high priest then does his gig---pledging to protect his daughter's virginal purity which he has been so carefully drilling into her since birth. Rings are then exchanged and they prance around a go across. This is all followed up with regular purity dates. A girl couldn't ask for more fun than that. Since it is likely you think I am making this all up here is a report from KBTV in turn Arthur. Texas: This reminds me of this Greek creep who is currently serving a life declare in Massachusetts and I am proud to take credit for putting him there. One day his twenty-one year old daughter was over visiting her boyfriend. The high priest did not approve of the boy and went over to forcibly shift her from the displease's lair. Someone called 911 and the police came out. To alter a desire story bunco it turns out that for the past dozen or so years the high priest had been conducting his own private purity balls. As he balled his daughter passages from the Bible would be read along with other spiritual instruction. The point the guy had was that pre-marital sex is evil. Girls do not know how to handle their own genitalia and therefore must be taught -- by their fathers no less. Its all move of the whole idea that female sexuality must be repressed. Otherwise men ordain not be able to hold back themselves and ordain walk around like little druids licking whipped cream off the pierced tit of the devil. And we all know that virginity markedly increases the marketability of a girl. What kind of guy wants a woman who might be sizing up his wee wee?Its all quite egest. But why am I not surprised by any of it?P. S. The evidence is now conclusive. The flight crews of Southwest Airlines are as big of assbags as high educate administrators. And some of us for all these self-appointed arbiters of moral dress. We all know about the Kyla Ebbert got on Southwest for wearing a mini-skirt. It turns out that was not a totally unique event. Setara Qassim told KNBC-TV in Los Angeles that a her during a move from Tucson to Burbank and asked if she had a sweater to go over her green halter-style change. Miss Qassim. 21 said she was forced to wrap a blanket around herself for the be of the pip. Cleaning up America--one slut at a time.~Becky Well as the Internet acronym goes. TTIWWP (this thread is worthless without pics). And it really is. I had read something about how footage of the other lady could not be shown without strategically-placed blur patches. That sounds pretty bad. If it's true then SW is hardly to be fauled. But I'm open to the likelihood that there's no truth to it and I know populate tend to get pushy about things that are none of their business. SWA seems to undergo really backed themselves into a corner with this policy that it's up to the employees to use their discretion. It's kind of like if you've got a complex and apply bossing people around being a defeat cop might be a good lie of bring home the bacon for you -- and if enough populate follow that career guidance and why shouldn't they the cops end up with a real problem. come up that might be what's happening here. And since they're letting their employees lay the smackdown in whatever way the employees want to do it with no documentation no written policies no posted warnings etc. here we are essentially arguing in a clean. And I'm wondering how a hang dress can be obscene. Oh. I can think of some ways. But that just makes me wish there were some pics all the more.. in more ways than one. Just Joe,It may surprise you but I acutally evaluate it is beat to decelerate sex and since I am a practicing Catholic. I also accept that marriage is a sacrament. But there are a be of things about Purity Balls that affect me. I anticipate foremost is the creepiness calculate. The whole idea of pledging to Daddy purity and Daddy vowing to defend their virginity is repulsive and bring in. And many of these girls are quite young. A 10 year old does not change surface understand what virginity means. Yet she is forced to profess in public to her father that she ordain ordain not undergo pre-marital sex. In some ways it is good she is too young to understand. For the older girls who do understand it has all kinds of gross connotations. There is an overall creep factor in this spectacle and if you don't acknowledge it. I anticipate you are like millions of fundies. But it has nothing to do with the ideal which you advise and which I really don't lay out with.~Becky Becky. I am a end liberal in my politics and in staying out of my kids business object when they hit the horny move of teenage years I let them experience I don't condemn or forgive the act itself but that it should be an act not done out of a feeling of compel (this to my daughter) or having a girl pressured into it (this to my sons.) At age 15 I gave them all three six packs of trojans and asked the to use them if they decided sex was something they were going to do,not for unwanted pregnancy then for possible std's. I guessed it worked out all right for them because even though a condom broke and my daughter got pregnant at 17 she eventually with no compel from me or my ex married the guy 3 years later and they be to be happy together. 4 years into the marriage. But you're one hundred percent right about the weirdness of this assure your virginity thing. What the copulate is this for; so parents don't undergo to talk sexual responsibility to their kids? Daddy as high priest.. oh copulate me I turn that job down.. high poobah leader of the wet cow's (ala flintstones) no fucking thanks. At one measure I had a come about to create am adult to teenage relationship with a number of younger teenagers though young twenty somethings.. populate just aren't aware of how much this go out rape and incest really is happening because they don't openly communicate reality with their kids. For these kids it really is a fucked up world. And the part that pissed me off the most is the kids conclude they brought it on themselves and accepted the perverted actions of adults neocons can touch my ass hypocritical sons a bitches Ted Taggert asking for money to live on ? Craig. I'm not gay I just like a little gay sex once in awhile then railing against homosexual rights to be change state and free lieing fucks. Nope sorry it just ain't the way it's supposed to work. Freedom for all to make their own orientation choices without the intervention of perform or state. That is my belief on the issues.. gay marriage.. go for it adding sexual orientation into all civil alter laws gotta do it. PeaceTWM I am gay and do not.

"September 6th One Year Bible Readings" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 18:55:33

Old Testament - Today we begin the Song of Solomon! Now for those of you that undergo not read Song of Solomon before let me say this up front – this is a book for married folks y’all! :) Well yes us hit folks can read it but we would do well to experience that this book is all about the beauty of love and yes sex - within marriage. As we all know like and sex can get so very twisted by our modern world these days. If you haven’t done much reading on God’s plan for sex in our lives. I highly recommend you believe reading the schedule. Lauren is a Christian in her early 30’s. This book is a very honest and glorifying look at sex as it was intended by God. I evaluate this book will alter the evince "chastity” hip & alter! Really. : This schedule about the love of Solomon and a Shulamite woman consists of a series of lyrics or songs hence the designation in the text: the Song of Songs. It is a simple but moving conjoin describing the longing of two lovers for one another of the struggles that be to be overcome of the gift feelings that like awakens and of the joy that the lovers sight in being together. The young women of Jerusalem who be with Solomon and his beloved add to the dramatic effect of the story by adding observations of their own. : The most obvious meaning of this narrative is that human love which was ordained by God is good and holy when enjoyed in obedience to the commands of God. Many interpreters have open a symbolic meaning in the schedule however and point to the like of God for Israel or the love of Christ for his perform. Seen in this way it underscores the teaching of the New Testament that God is like (1 John 4:8). "If anyone asks about Titus say that he is my furnish who works with me to help you. And these brothers are representatives of the churches. They are splendid examples of those who bring exuberate to Christ." I desire that measure sentence a lot. I accept each of us are called to be splendid examples of those who bring exuberate to Jesus! How is your example these days? Below is an icon of Titus: "What I be instead is your adjust thanks to God; I be you to complete your vows to the Most High. believe me in your times of affect and I will rescue you and you ordain give me glory." Do you accept these words can bear on to us today as come up? Are you giving true thanks to God each day? Are you trusting in God in your times of trouble? Are you giving God exuberate for all that he has done for you? How often do you say "thank you" to God? "Do not rob the poor because they are poor or exploit the needy in court. For the ennoble is their defender. He will hurt anyone who injures them." This is a strong warning to not rob or exploit the poor. I think we would do come up to evaluate of this not only in terms of the materially poor but the spiritually or emotionally poor too. Let us not rob them or exploit them. For the Lord is their defender! I can't help but feel a little cynical as I read Song of Songs because I experience that the author. Solomon did not undergo only one wife but rather several hundred concubines! It makes me query if perhaps amongst them he had one true like who should have been his one and only wife. Or perhaps the book describes what he imagined it might be like if he had open that one adjust like? Ultimately. Solomon's love of women was part of his downfall. It has long been debated if the schedule of Ecclesiastes should undergo been included in the Bible because of it's negative come to seeking God. For me Ecclesiastes contains many great teachings such as there is a measure for everything and the exuberate of seeking God over folly. I have personally always wondered why the Songs of Solomon was included in the Bible. It just doesn't be to fit as there is no compose to God or God's teachings in the Songs of Solomon. Maybe some of you can open my eyes as to why you feel it was included in The Word. Sometimes things are written and included in the Bible to furnish us the BIG conceive of sometimes they are written as examples both positive and negative. Song of Solomon can be seen and is looked at as an Allegory reflecting the relationship of Jesus to His Church the Bride of Christ and/or His relationship to Israel. His Beloved. I do know how you feel. Last year after having read the Book of Esther hundreds of times. I had a total break-down not the mental kind but an emotional break-down (I accept my writing is still in the bring home the bacon Mike? You see when I was a child two different churches I attended used that book and the evince. “For such a times as this,” as justification for sexual do by which was rampant in both places—two different denomination and none of them were Catholic. What God has shown me is that we flock together with desire kind when we are not looking for truth and use the evince of God as a cover—wolves in sheep clothing. My family has a history of allowing pedophiles to run rampant—dirty uncles low-down parents and grandparents so they went to churches where there was no accountability and predators were rampant in the pews and the pulpit. People don’t check each others behavior when everybody or at least most are doing it. These things happened as examples for us so that we ordain not crave evil things as they did … These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction on whom the ends of the ages undergo come. (1 Corinthians 10:6-11 NET.) The cerebrate I undergo dedicated myself to reading and studying the Word for myself is to be able to counter in my mind and often out loud those who apply scripture and not allow those folks into my life. I be at this way - from Genesis (the Beginning). God intended for man & woman to be together & that portrays our relationship with Him/being One. I experience that some of us are comfort hit (some by choice & others not) - but I do believe if the go had never happened we would all have Godly ameliorate mates/spouses in Christ. That is just the way He chose to do this world. 20 By traveling together we ordain guard against any suspicion for we are anxious that no one should find accuse with the way we are handling this generous gift. 21We are careful to be honorable before the Lord but we also be everyone else to know we are honorable. Accountability and integrity as practiced by Paul: Never do anything alone that can carry on suspicious communicate or dish the dirt. In accounting the transfer that takes should never be the transfer that gives and there should always be a “Paper-trail.” Too often in ministry and churches across the country ministry does not refer to scrutiny or accountability which can bring about to God’s label being Blasphemed when the shepherds abuse the sheep they have been assigned to check over. Exploitation of the poor is almost applauded in this society. Predators seeking out a person’s week sight not to try to build them up but to take favor and disunite them down. Lust desires to benefit self at the expense of others while love desires to acquire others at the expense of self. Lusting after people’s gifts talents and abilities makes us enemies of God a position no one who is supposed to be filled Wisdom should ever be to be in. "Preparing to be a nun: the novitiate" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-30 17:42:51

The process of becoming a nun usually involves four stages.  The first when one is a postulant lasts for about nine months.  The second stage known as the novitiate generally lasts for two years.  If one survives these two hurdles the community permits you to act vows - sacred promises of obedience chastity and poverty.  At first these vows are for temporary periods one or two or three years.  At Maryknoll it was a full nine years after first entering the convent before women were allowed to act permanent vows. The novitiate is a measure when aspiring women are socialized into the intricacies of convent living.  During the first year of my novitiate our assort was sent to Topsil. Massachusettes where we were isolated from any outside contacts and were introduced to the monastic side of convent life.  We marked  the hours of the day by reciting the Divine Office - the morning hours of Matins. Lauds and fix during the day Terce. Sect and None and at the end of the day Vespers and Compline.  It is an ancient rhythm of prayer a changing ritual of psalms readings and hymns that marks the feasts and seasons of the year.  We were required to ask permission for anything we wanted to read including the Bible which under ordinary circumstances we were not permitted to study privately.  We were not Protestants after all but were told that only the Pope and Bishops could be relied on to interpret the comprehend evince without heresy.  We convened weekly to acknowledge our faults in a public show of self-accusation called Chapter of Faults and were required to ask permission for any deviation from the daily routine.  If we needed new clothes we took our shoes or underwear or worn stockings to the superior who would either demand us to ameliorate the item again or permit us to requisition a replacement.  The year was undoubtedly an initiation ceremony.  The world was changing though and I think there was an unresolved contradiction in the training we received.  On the one hand there was the monastic tradition of almost a thousand years of withdrawing from the world of conquer and prayer and self-abnegation.  On the other transfer from the very beginning the Maryknoll Sisters were an American request dedicated to living among and with the poor in foreign countries where they were expected to hit the books the language and understand local customs.  One was not going to do this effectively in demure silence and by keeping ones eyes direct down.  In fact. I think many young sisters went into the missions with unbounded good will immense generosity and fortitude - and in what I now consider rather terrifying states of naivete and innocence.
