construe a book," "take a bath" and "buy some land" are among the messages in a viral video phenomenon that has many people on edge since its airing on YouTube and Black Entertainment Television. Hip-hop artist and poet Bomani "D-Mite" Armah's "Read a Book" has generated varying opinions about the explicit way the messages are delivered. Some call the video vulgar. The Washington. D. C. native uses attention-grabbing beats by converging Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 with catchy lyrics typically associated with crunk music popularized by artists such as Lil' Jon and Three Six Mafia. The Washington City Paper says the video has been viewed more than 650,000 times on YouTube. Denys Cowan senior vice president of animation for BET told the Los Angeles Times that he was "a little surprised" that the video has elicited such a strong reaction. "We were doing it from the point of this being a fun profound song," he said. "We didn't experience it would take on this life." Although Tennessee express University students say they undergo mixed feelings about the song and its BET-animated video. Armah said the song's purpose outweighs any contradict response. "As an artist it is not my job to alter people feel good it's only my job to make populate feel," Armah said. "I like that everyone has dramatic feelings about the song no be if they love it or dislike it."Brandie Ricks a junior health science major from Cincinnati said that although she can cerebrate to the song's communicate its use of profanity and repeat of the "n-word" numerous times obscures the communicate for some. "The concept of the video makes comprehend because it is adjust but the circumscribe of the song is unnecessary," said Ricks. "He didn't undergo to use that video or use those words to get his point across." Junior Tiffany Currie a business marketing major from Detroit also criticized Armah's method. "I disagree with the way he brought the message to the community," Currie said. "Personally. I would have read it if it was still a poem."

""The Dark Is Rising" by Susan Cooper" posted by ~Ray

American.) It's set in a very middle-class English family and is very Enid Blyton in tone. There are no "lashings of ginger ale" but it's of that ilk. So setting the enter in America will both increase the relevance to the main body of viewers while simultaneously reducing what made the book conclude authentic in the first displace. That said it's not really my cup of tea anyway. This book meant a lot (and still means a lot) to SWMBO but I didn't read it when I was younger so it doesn't have that same grip on me. To me it's just a book and one that doesn't make a whole lot of comprehend to me. The poem on the approve of the book is repeated (and extended) a couple of times throughout the story but it still doesn't make comprehend to me even after finishing the book. It feels desire it's a foreshadowing poem describing some future events but I can't figure out what it was trying to express me. That probably says more about me than the book though and no doubt everyone who's read the book is silently going "But it describes..." But what I really don't get is the 'why' of the book. I just don't understand why the kid is the hero. Sure he's the one the prophecy is about but there are others on his side and they're much more capable undergo greater powers and undergo a exceed understanding of what's going on. Why don't they just do the cram instead of relying on an eleven year old boy? Why is he the prophecied one anyway? Why?

"'Detour' by James Siegel" posted by ~Ray

is not highbrow literature. Instead it's a fast-paced plot-driven play that reads like a movie screenplay. It's well written in the comprehend that it's effortless to read. But if you're expecting something that will rock your world or make you see things in a different light or undergo you reassessing your life then give this one a wide furnish. It's enjoyable and entertaining. No more no less. is about ordinary populate caught up in extraordinary circumstances. In this inspect a young New York bring together. Joanna and Paul travel to Colombia to adopt a baby as part of a fast-track scheme set up by their lawyer. Of cover Colombia is a dangerous country -- a inform which Siegel labours again and again throughout this long novel -- and there's a menace around every corner. Not surprisingly the couple and their new adorable do by girl. Joelle are kidnapped by left-wing militia -- and then things really heat up. Paul enters into a broach to secure their release: he must jaunt to New York as a drug mule with 30 condoms of cocaine inside him. He has 18 hours to deliver them to an address in Queens and once the drugs are safely handed over. Joanna and Joelle will be free to return to the USA. If he doesn't hand them over he will never see his wife and daughter again... Of course -- you guessed it -- things don't go according to plan but to say any more would fail the plot... is certainly an adrenalin-fuelled read. Siegel is shameless in wringing every last drop of fear out of the reader manipulating events so that you're never quite sure what is going to come about next. He's very good at pulling at the heartstrings too -- a pet dislike of exploit. I must add -- and of building up the tension only to offer up an over-the-top-almost-ridiculous succession of climaxes that don't really go adjust. However if you can tolerate the narrative "tricks" and don't mind loopholes in the story (for instance when was the last time you read a book in which a engrave couldn't go the police because his landline had been disconnected change surface though he'd been using a mobile telecommunicate regularly up until that inform?) then you'll apply this thriller. I found it slightly annoying and about 100 pages too desire but other than that it was a cracking story that didn't tax the color matter too much perfect for when you be a lazy I-don't-need-to-use-my-brain read. "Comment on The ?Filioque? Clause by Ben" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:36:41

which deals with this air in chapter 10. I read the book for a categorise on the Trinity and (being hit at the time) outlined the whole thing (or close to it). The “filioque” clause was an addition by the Western church to the Nicene Creed which states that the animate proceeds from the Father “and the Son” (”filio” is “son” in Latin; “que” is “and”). Obviously (not being hit) I haven’t gotten a come about to produce such a thorough depict of any books on anything tangentially related to the Trinity but one of the points brought up (by the outline at least) is one that had been a kind of unspoken point of contention betwixt myself and my perception of Reformed thought … that is the erosion of what you called “the monarchy of the Father”. In reading various passages of the Bible. I had entangle that the Trinity as it had been taught to me in my biblical education didn’t seem to accept much leeway for the Father being above the Son; and yet the passages I read seemed to indicate the “monarchy of the Father” etc. Particularly. I was thinking about this when reading Paradise Lost as Milton had a more Arian believe of Christ and expressed it in that work. Ben. I think you’ve hit an important point. Because there does seem to be an eternal submission of the Son to the Father. However that submission is a submission of “role” and not of “nature” or “divinity”. What Letham points out in his book is that both Eastern and Western conceptions of God have problems. In the East the tendency is toward denigrating the Son to being less than comprehend. Or that his deity is somehow derived from the Father. The problems in the West tend toward modalistic conceptions of the Trinity. Lee,You’re definitely influenced by the Western conception of the Trinity. But that doesn’t convey you’re do by only that you be to realize your assumptions Hm … and yet the opposite side is as you outlined practical modalism. Since the East is not going to go so far as to deny the deity of Christ. I would say the West has the more precarious position here. Personally. I undergo been confused lately about how we do displace the persons of the trinity in the West … before running across this idea again. I had been thinking … “Do I really distinguish between the persons of the Trinity in my relationship and how could I?” I’m not really expressing myself completely but I had basically fallen into this modalistic confine. That is. Christ seemed to lose His identity through my Western understanding of the Trinity and it made me wonder how to cerebrate to God or Christ etc. Tangentially. I think the outline said that the Eastern perspective could create confusion by introducing a fourth person the unknowable “comprehend essence” — thereby making God less “immanent” perhaps? But I sort of feel that the unknown quantity is more unknown in the Western view because it is the Trinity itself that is the unknown quantity … in the West we know the “comprehend essence” but we don’t know the persons that strictly speaking should be in lie of it. But that may just be my own perspective. “Modalism” is saying that there is one God and the Father. Son and Spirit are all God but that they are not distinct. That is each are different “modes” that the one God revals himself as etc. This is most common today in Oneness or “Jesus only” Pentecostals. Ben,In all fairness your “falling into a modalistic trap” does not mean that the Western conception of the Trinity is more wrong than the Eastern. For example as an Eastern Orthodox believer you could easily be falling into the confine of tri-theism or as you said creating a fourth “divine essence” to the Trinity. Both sides have flaws and dangers and both sides undergo commendable aspects. I evaluate a healthy believe of the Trinity is possible under the Western conception especially when the danger is understood. I find myself easily distinguishing between the persons of the Trinity in my relationship with God. I think the Western conception is slightly more preferable because God first revealed himself as a Unity and only later do we find that that Unity is actually a Unity that is not “simple” — it is a “tri”-unity. Danny - yes. I got the 2nd part (about what I was articulating and that it didn’t necessarily mean that I was do by). Thanks for the definition of modalism. I’m not sure how one would think that it is supported however. Ben - it seems desire you may not be drawing the distinction here between a loose understanding/conceptualization of (and hence let go practical relationship with) the members of the Trinity and an adherence to modalism. I don’t think the two are the same. Would.

"I just read a book that is a MUST read?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 16:03:13

If you have read the first book of Neil Walsh. “Conversations With God” or watched the movie you will like this book also…  I cried. I laughed as I read it. In Walsh’s book says. “You got me all wrong” and in this book by William P. Young God says. “You do not know me at all.” I could not agree with any statements more than I do both of these. May we all have our own personal “dwell” experiences with God and/or “conversations” with God for a transformational undergo that ordain bind our trust and faith in Papa God. Jesus the Christ and the Holy animate as the I AM in us. Though my story is not the same path as this novel portrays. I have been on my own dawdle of healing; I undergo thrown a BIG move back and forth into the lake sending out ripples reaching far into the recesses of my heart for the purpose of redemption of not one but many perpetrators in my life…and it brings joy and sunshine flooding back into your soul your very being. It brings a freedom from carrying them around on your back 24/7; what a weight is lifted. It is painfully wonderful. <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q have in mind=""> <strike> <strong>
