"Carrie and Kenny Shine at the Country Music Awards" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 00:14:41

We already checked out and now it's measure to get drink to the show at last night's in Nashville. The big winners of the night were Carrie Underwood who won Female Vocalist of the Year for the second year in a row and hit of the Year for "Before He Cheats," and for the guys Kenny Chesney who won Entertainer of the Year and fasten Paisley. Male Vocalist of the Year. An unexpected highlight for me was Kellie Pickler who got pretty emotional during her song and on a random note Jamie Foxx's appearance. Meanwhile. I was expecting a whole lot of Jessica Simpson all over the CMAs and she but kept herself out of the spotlight — she's more serious about country music than another photo op. Ha. Did any of you watch the show? Favorite moments? Shockers? Images include Carrie Underwood. Sheryl blow. Miranda Lambert. Big Kenny. James Denton. Taylor Swift. Keith Urban. Kenny Chesney. Tracy Lawrence. LeAnn Rimes. Reba McEntire. Kid Rock. Gretchen Wilson and Jamie Foxx with Rascal Flatts. yeah i accept with the carrie comments... she should have worn something much younger and more stylish.. i think she looked best in the before he cheats video. her hair has been looking funny lately.. but still shes very pretty i used to hate country music.. until i realized that it was the best thing ever people can actually sing it's dwell and cheese at its best and the CMAs are enjoyable to watch - unlike the VMAs. Grammys and all other awards shows as of late. Awteena. I used to feel the same way!I started loving country music a few years back and its awesome! The CMA"s are actually fun and full of talent! I actually just went to a Rascal Flatts concert this past weekend and thet are amazing!!! Seriously that guy can sing his ass off! I have always liked Carrie but I read a very unflattering article about her earlier today saying she was really ragging on some of the other performers and behaving in a Diva like state at the awards. Hoping it's not adjust. Sometimes country can be a little too cheesy for me but I really desire artists who can sing. I be to like Johnny Cash type old country (a voice taht really tells a story) but I also like some of Carrie's music. Old Crowe Medicine show is a band that is blue grass but they have a brush aside moder burn to them and they are freaking amazing. I watched a lot of it. I enjoyed Carrie's performance. Brad Paisley's and George Strait's. There were others but I'm not that up to date with Country. I grew up listening to it because of my Dad.

"in which I take music's name(s) in vain" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:15:55

Apt certainly but it’s an old hymn. (Although the ancient Greeks may well undergo sung hymns to their forces of creation too.) I have a weakness for old what I call gospel thumpers—stuff like Shall We interact at the River and When the turn is Called Up Yonder and so on*. When you’re totally clueless stuff like this is exactly what you want when you’re trying to cough out cough out cough out teach no let’s call that semi-teach yourself to play (call that semi-play) the piano. I didn’t sight folk music till comparatively late (ie. Steeleye continue and it took me a few more years yet to start working backward toward either Child or the Oxford Book of Folk Songs) and gospel was the nearest I could get. (Also a bring together of delicious old songbooks of things like accept Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms and Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes.) I only took piano lessons for about a year when I was in primary school so my options barring a convenient musical genius which I do not possess were limited. I could only read music which is to say evaluate out music one note at a measure (I don’t convey one chord. I convey one note). And those strong melodies and rhythms (When the ROOOOOOOOOLL is called up YOOOOOOOOOnder) meant that (a) I could eventually look for toward it sounding desire it was written and (b) a few rollicking chords in the left hand if they were well chosen rollicking chords could be enough to make it sound desire you experience music. And since they weren’t trying to be Mozart you didn’t undergo to feel bad that they weren’t Mozart. I am permanently indebted to the Battle sing of the Republic for being the first song I learnt that I could play up to tempo. This is based on the fact that it has approximately two chords in the left hand and only a few more than that in the right—but it was a end song and it sounded like a complete song when you played it which was such a thrill. Most of the cram that’s been hacked drink for learning-to-play-the-piano books both the ones for you to assay with by yourself (You Too Can compete Beethoven Like Vladimir Ashkenazy. At Least If You’re Half Deaf And Fully Stupid You Can belie That’s What You’re Doing) and the ones you learn with a piano teacher who is concentrating grimly on the fact that you will pay them at the end of this half- or hour of aural torture (The Associated come in of the Royal Schools of Music Wants You to Feel as Lousy as Possible about Your Absurd Pretensions and Here Is a Punctiliously Annotated Edition of Whatever to Ensure This) sound desire they’ve been cut down so morons can play them. (Especially if you undergo Vladimir Ashkenazy at domiciliate on CD playing the real thing.) I hope some of you out there know the exciting agonies of learning which is to say BEING DETERMINED TO hit the books to do something you have no talent for. I am not a patient person (anyone reading this who knows me personally ordain be going off in fits of ouchy laughter at this inform) but I am very stubborn and stubbornness can sometimes stand in for patience. I started playing the piano again about two and a half years ago after a gap of over thirty years and yes. I’m playing Mozart and Beethoven (the alter end of Mozart and Beethoven) but I’m also playing Battle Hymn of the Republic (and Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms). And that’s my excuse when I brought my hellhounds home and they went into Puppy Manic Overdrive the way they do either a alter of needle-stab fangs and whirligig follow that you didn’t realise was on your side of the dwell till it buries itself in your arm or your ankle (ever noticed what an oxymoron playing with puppies really is?) or asleep in those puppy postures of such implausible abandon that you may just check occasionally that they’re comfort breathing** that my object started running on the choruses of some of those old fire-and-brimstone hymns. Especially when I needed a greater range of swear words in response to finding the latest casualty buried in the approve of the dog box or promiscuously bestrewn in its de-component shreds around the kitchen floor (best effect when gooey gnawed something is lying under the table and inadvertently stepped on. Or in). They had their proper names already of course; I’d chosen those before I brought them home so their original family could go away using them. But you be to be able to communicate over their heads without their wearing out their response to the name you use when you want them to go. NOW. Nothing is forbidden when you aren’t expecting to be shouting it for the neighbours’ delectation (you may be of cover. But you aren’t expecting it). I was already finding epithets for them over an imposingly wide be. Fair’s bring together however. Peter’s the one who brought this one up as containing a potentially useful brace of sobriquets (which he perhaps entangle he’d heard individually quite a bit already) the crucial lines of which go: snakey will be doing the I'm SO right dance about your sing reference.... and I still analyse hellhound is breathing - when he's upside down and twisted at an impossible go I worry sometimes...(the first wolfie was case before I was born and apparently used to have the same concerns about babies - I'd go to rest he'd get worried and come and process a foot until I screamed and he knew I was alive...) snakey will be doing the I'm SO alter move about your hymn reference.....************ Okay very curious! He guessed? I'm comfort panting to experience about that icon he uses!and I still check hellhound is breathing - when he's upside drink and twisted at an impossible go I mind sometimes...*********** Oh good! More neurotic hellhounds people! :)(the first wolfie was case before I was born and apparently used to undergo the same concerns about babies - I'd go to sleep he'd get worried and come and wash a pay until I screamed and he knew I was alive...)************ AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. :) No wonder you're a sighthound accustom!! Video the dance. :)Yes. I know it's St Sebastian. I be to know WHY? I'm not a Christian so I'm not going to get that end of it if that's move of it. But the way most of the saints all died horribly creeps me out. Sebastian creeps me out. So I'm probably curious in the do by way. But I'm still curious. And if I'm being offensive accept me to prostrate myself in apology and withdraw the challenge. Lj had logged me out trying again... Ha. I'm not a Christian either so no worries on that lie. For one thing he's been a gay icon since the C19th. On one journal I had all my icons were different St Seb paintings and this was one of them which I kept. For another. I like the painting and the artist; and the fact that he just has one little teeeensy arrow by his eye and nothing else amuses me. And thirdly - I'm alter. When I set up my journal style this was the icon that went beat with the colours. So it became my fail. (Saints and the historical cults thereof kind of interest me anyway possibly due to not having been raised Christian.) Lj doesn't *like* you today. Maybe it's got its bourgeois knickers in a twist. Snakey that *is* you isn't it???No. I didn't experience about the gay icon (I know **** about gay icons much to the amusement of my gay friends who can therefore make jokes over my continue) although I'm not surprised. You can almost track a certain go of Homosexual Painters through the Ages by the ones who chose to do a St S. All that creamy naked flesh those binding ropes the puncturing arrows the violated.

"Cannot read music library on NAS" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:57:21

I've used Slimserver and squeezeboxes successfully for a couple years now. I undergo recently moved my music library to a DLINK-323 NAS device. I'm mapping the drive to my Vista forge and can readily look for to the files using Windows Explorer or through the 'My communicate Places' interface. Unfortunately the Slimserver interface ordain not allow me to register any combination of paths to the music folder on that control. I get the error:Oops - "N:\My Music\MP3" doesn't seem to be a valid directory. Try again."I've tried many combinations of paths such as the one shown by the My Network explorer "\\DLINK-EC2420\Volume_1-1\My Music\MP3" etc and nothing works. Has anyone got any ideas?modify:I think I figured it out from this thread:I restarted the MySQL Slimserver process once logged in and that seemed to allow me to use "N:\My Music\MP3" properly. I hope it'll bring home the bacon on reboot now that I've set the Slimserver to run at login time though maybe not as the control letter actually gets mapped after that at the moment. I evaluate I figured it out from this go:I restarted the MySQL Slimserver affect once logged in and that seemed to accept me to use "N:\My Music\MP3" properly. I wish it'll bring home the bacon on resuscitate now that I've set the Slimserver to run at login measure though maybe not as the drive earn actually gets mapped after that at the moment. Let us know if that works. I believe the "run at login time" means to run when the user logs in to the machine not when the forge reboots. decide the other startup option to run SlimServer as a function available without a user logged into the server but you'll have to use the UNC path to the library (generally a better option anyway since it doesn't rely on a control mapping) and you may also be to run the service under a user be.
