Hello,i installed mandriva 2008 on brand new hardware about a week ago today during an hd intensive operation (amarok scanning my music collection),the system slowed to a go and the kernel complained with the following messages. Now... the challenge is should i be worried about my data?or do you think this is a configuration error i can do something about?the drive is a WDC WD3200KS and i had set SATA mode to AHCI in my bios.(default was IDE mode maybe there was a good reason for it?)MB is an ABIT IP35 Pro. The problems stopped! I have continued to fsck my harddisk regularly until I was sure there’s nothing do by with my harddrive (I did so for two months). A couple of days ago (saturday) I installed Gutsy again (Gutsy Beta). I did an installation of Gutsy on the same divide I had run Gutsy on two months before. Again I was dualbooting between Feisty and Gutsy. This time I made sure to only mount the Gutsy divide in Gutsy and no other partitions. I don’t think you HDD is dying either but you may have some issues with your memory - I had a similar issue back when I used RH6/WinME (duel boot) - the Windows side files simply disappeared and on the Linux side I found files unreadable or ‘damaged’ … How old is your harddrive ?When did you go away running Gutsy ?When did your problems go away ?Did your problems start after running Gutsy ?
