Hey. Sometimes the automated psexec scripts I use will die attempting to delete the service does not work nor does changing the start value. It will say something similar to:The specified service has been marked for deletion Right now that is causing serious headaches cause it required a reboot in order for the compose to be able to start that function again. I was wondering if there was an alternative solution to correcting this. Perhaps some sort of registry modification. While this does not happen every time the compose is being run it does happen often. Any Ideas?I have tried going to :HKLM > SYSTEM > CURRENTCONTROLSET > Services > xCmd function I changed the DeleteFlag value to 0 and change surface tried deleting that DWORD all together. I was able to modify the start type from 4 to 2 but it still does not start and gives the same/similar error as above. A resolution sans the reboot would be appreciated.
Hello pec3. As a be of fact as you will know the psexesvc (executable register %windir%\psexesvc exe) is a temporary function. I e the registry keys will only be show as long as psexesvc is show. Hence trying to tweak the psexesvc registry keys is not going to be too effective. The source of the problem seems to be that your automated psexec script will die
either some kind of connection between psexec on the local machine and psexesvc on the remote machine is kept up although the script died (whatever this really means in dilate)
You might watch what is going on on the remote forge where psexesvc will not go away e g with the help of or if you know how to handle it with the back up of. At minimum you should analyse the eventlogs on the remote machine for any errors/warnings generated around the time that your compose tragically
and cure the source of the problem not the symptom psexesvc staying in the state of "marked for deletion". You may also check that you are not using an outdated psexec version. The current version is. Kind regards,KarlEdited by Karlchen - 17 November 2007 at 12:51am
